Bio is really great for chem Unit 3, which is so full it's nice to have some things that overlap.

I think if you enjoy bio then you can do really well and maybe even have a good time doing so. Plus if you're pursuing medicine then some of the things in there would definitely appeal to you.

also is heinemann the best?

that's what my school says :) they stopped using all the other ones cos they weren't as good.
Try Heinemann or Jacaranda

All enrolled in Bio :)

Got the textbook and all.  Now I got to choose between bio and physics.  I'm never going to be able to do it! :(

why not both? u say uve only got 3 days of school, a few more classes a week wouldn't be too bad.

^hehe, thanks superflya :)

yeah it is only one class per week, and still got wednesdays and fridays off, so i'm pretty lucky...

i went through some of the physics exam again, and it actually isn't that hard, so i'm really stuck as to which i should choose, but i guess if i space my study out properly, then i will be able to manange them both.

very true what vexx says though, 3 exams in just over 24 hours will be intense to say the least.

I got the heinemann one, because that was the one on the booklist.
If i continue with it, which i most likely will, i will consider other books as well.
my booklist also says i have to buy biozone and a few other books as well.

is biozone any good?

and i am pretty sold on bio only.

i am almost certain one of my englishes (probably EL), methods and chem will make up my top 4 along with further, so at the end of the day, it is pretty much academic as to whether I do physics or bio seeing as they will be in my bottom two anyway.

Plus bio will help out with medicine, and I really seem to be struggling with physics at the moment.

Also bio can be more of a chill subject for me, where I can just read through and memorize notes and diagrams most of the time, whereas physics is more intense problem solving, and every time i don't get something it does my head in.

any thoughts?
i am happy to be swayed if your argument is good enough lol.

my teacher recommended that we do all the questions in the biozone workbook as they are application/exam type questions. and the questions for heinemenn are relatively straight forward to ensure you know the concepts and theory. so yeah get the biozone workbook.

i suggest do bio, it's your top four and it's as you said an aid for medicine and will be useful to know + it's interesting.

your top four you already know so do whatever you want for interest's sake as your 5/6th subject.

Biozone is pretty awesome; there are some challenging questions and it goes much more in-depth with the theory. However though, some of the exercises are redundant; it goes into topics which I've never seen covered in VCE bio. I never done textbook questions, just mostly questions from biozone and I done fine :)

physics makes me rage too :(

yeah, i'm 99% sure on bio now, because fitting in six subjects with three mnid years will be intense, plus there is the umat.  also.  my english is rather poor and i am going to need to work very hard to get it up to standard.  an extra subject could really hurt my chances of achieving high in english, which is probably the most important thing that i need to do.

also cae seems to have a pretty good bio faculty:

2009 Results
Centre for Adult Education    Melbourne    Biology    Arms, Elizabeth            40
Centre for Adult Education    Melbourne    Biology    Cockburn, Margaret    46
Centre for Adult Education    Melbourne    Biology    Powell, Elizabeth            42

same can't be said for physics, at cae or box hill tafe haha.

btw, how was medentry today vexx?

^ our highest score was a 44,but we had heaps around 40~42. haha! so go cae..

ooh it was pretty good actually, they went through every question quite indepth and all the different types of questions per section, giving you a helpful way of answering the questions! definitely worth going... i'm gonna try some prac questions sometime soon but i feel i've already improved lawl!

sweet.  i can't wait to go now :)

yeah i read through a few chapters of bio today.  it is very interesting, and i quite like it.  lots of chem too.

particularly looking forward to AoS 1 in Unit 4.  I really like genetics.
bit gay that evolution is the whole of AoS 2 though.

also there are loads of really good bio notes here on VN.
