This is BS

Rowkay,
So.....let me tell you a little story.
On Friday our school received back our SAC marks for our first outcome.
Now, there's this girl in my class who only managed to complete 1 main body paragraph as well as intro and conclusion (she 'freaked' out during the outcome)
And what do you know...she got a pretty awesome score!!  WTF!
People who actually managed to complete the outcome fully were marked lower than her.
It doesn't help that she's extremely annoying and doesn't deserve it.
Now, apparently a girl in my year is going to ask the co-coordinator wtf is this BS

It's so unfair and people who actually managed to write a whole essay get a worse mark. GRR  :tickedoff:

k rant over.

Teachers have a marking scheme in which they use as a reference to the mark. Just say the sac was out of 20, only 5 marks may have been dedicated to the structure of the essay (e.g. intro body conclusion). She probably got 2 marks or less for that area but was able to fulfill the requirements of the other parts without writing a complete essay.

Actually, that does make sense.
But say how one criteria was for quotes, she wouldn't have had enough to satisfy that criteria, nor would she have had high points for character studies as she only described one paragraph.

Grr that would be annoying! In English we did some oral presentations (not a SAC though) and there was a girl who read off her sheet, head down, no one was listening, and she got full marks. She got "very high" for engaging the audience. Compare it with someone else who had engaged the audience very well, and they only got "medium". Favouritism can go die in a hole :(

BTW, I still received higher marks than her but I'm still angry because of people who got ranked below her and managed to write a FULL essay.
Fck favoritism.
I know this sounds bad but I hope she somewhat bombs on the exam because VCAA wouldn't give a fck about her little anxiety issues.
I'm a nervous person but it was 1 outcome and she already knew everything anyway (she makes it clear when she asks about 1000 questions and she already knows the answers to them)

Is she just clarifying? That's very possible.

Meh, I haven't really witnessed favouritism in marking, but I have seen favouritism (or the opposite, consistently picking on particular people) in teacher treatment towards students. For example last year in General Maths the teacher would constantly tell this guy to stop talking. I was sitting next to him, and I was clearly chatting to him as my head was facing towards him away from the table, yet the teacher didn't say a word to me and kept watching the guy.

Shes obviously got some special consideration. Im sure she'd trade in her 'benefits' for proper functioning. Stop being a dick.

I am concentrating on my work guys, i'm just pointing out that it isn't fair for other students who completed a full essay.

And no Visionz, there was no 'special consideration', she walked out of class and obviously didn't have enough time to finish. I know this girl, and I know the story. She can function perfectly fine and is capable of doing really well at school.

I love how people think i'm being a 'dick'. Jesus.

Don't worry about it. That's why there is moderation. She's got no chance of getting a high mark if she does exactly the same work (intro and a body para) in the exam.

Moderation only works if everyone is marked by the same standards within a cohort.
