Hmm, Would it be possible to get 50 by just being rank 1? Or do you have to get A+'s throughout the year?

Well sure, being rank 1 would definitely help, but not quite getting there doesn't mean you can't get 50.
But, as I've said, everything comes down to the final exam, your performance in that count for more than the exam score
Remember, remember the 5th of November

2010 - MM CAS (47) - Cisco 1+2 (pass :P)
2011 - Eng - Phys - Chem - Spesh - Latin - UMAT

Oh i meant as in say rank 1 in my cohort was a B average, and then I blitzed the exam.

Could i get a 50 solely off the rank itself or does VCAA take into account the B's i got all year?

Only your rank gets submitted to VCAA, not your actual SAC scores.

So you could get 100% on the exam, with a D average SAC mark and still get 50 as long as you're rank 1?

They would probably audit your school or something cause rank 1 with D average SAC's is not normal

nope - SAC scores are submitted, and the spread of these is used in the calculation of the moderated SAC marks

It really despends. I you have a really high ranking i.e. top 5, mabys 10 ten in a string cohort, dw about dropping a few marks here and there. you just don't wanna completely screw up any sac, unless it's ridicuously hard and everyone else screws it up as well, and i mean EVERYONE. I mentioned this example on another thread, but i had a friend last year, mm cas, screwed up one sac, lost 1.5 marks on the final exams(1&2 togeather) got 45. Pretty scary, and he was ranked high teens/low twentys and we had a pretty strong cohort.

And as some other ppl have mentioned, at the top top end, you have to get EVERY MARK you can

.... How does losing 1.5 marks equate to 45 >.<. I know someone who got A average (would be lower than rank 10) for his SACs, lost 2 marks in final exam, and ended up getting 49.

Did he get a statement of marks? Or did he guess that he lost 1.5 marks?

If it is accurate that he lost only 1.5 marks(which it probably is, who guesses half marks...) he must have been ranked quite low. What scores were in the "high teens/low twentys"? Like what was the twentieth highest SS?

yes, it was official, lol, i don't know anyone that would guess half marks either

i'm pretty sure the 20th ss at out school would be..... and i'm guessing 43/44, TT would probs know, we did methods last year in the same class and this is the type of thing he would know, but it would be at around that mark
