How will Melbourne Model effect Clearly In?

Hey guys! Just wondering: Melbourne Model will be fully implemented next year. How will this effect the 'Clearly-In'. I thought demand (Required ATAR) will go up for Melbourne Uni courses as there will be more people trying to get into a course as this will lead to many pathways. EG. More ppl may go into science as this can lead to Engineering etc.
But then I also thought that no one actually seems to like the idea of the Melbourne Model and will try and go to another uni instead. Most likely Monash lol  :buck2:. So therefore the demand for Monash courses will go up?
Im really not sure what the effect will be? Does anyone have any ideas as to what may happen. Or do any of you think it will not have too great effect on 'Clearly In' scores?

pretty sure they will all stay the same. and since engineering is purely through science, then science may go up a little. i cannot see all the ENTERs actually going down.

There will be no change, as the Melbourne Model has been applicable for first years for three years already.

Actually u can get into some form of engineering through: Science, Environments, Commerce or Biomed..

But it was optional before. Now its compulsory.

But it was optional before. Now its compulsory.

How was it optional? There was only a few courses left which weren't under the Melbourne Model (optom, physio etc).

Seeing as Clearly-In is purely determined by supply and demand, it's hard to tell at this time of the year for '10 students since preferences haven't opened yet.  Despite this, there are 3 main categories of people/students (local, international and SEAS applicants) competing for places at UoM.  So if we have a higher demand and a constant supply like last year, then the "worrying trend" might become a "stressful trend" for future students.

Science 08 = 85.00
Science 09 = 89.05

Biomed 08 = 95.00
Biomed 09 = 97.95

That's quite an increase...
LOL commerce went down a bit.

Why did science and biomed increase so much? High demand to get into the courses? Because at this rate, biomed will have a 99.95 ATAR cut-off soon... Commerce is only like ~94, should be relatively easy to get into :)

Partly because Medicine became graduate I imagine. A lot of the Biomed people (well at least the ones I know) intended on Med. Those who don't end up getting it tend to turn up in either pharmacy or biomed from my experience.

And I can reveal that those who didn't get into Biomed (not sure about pharmacy) go into science from my experience of talking to fellow students.  You'll find that many of them want to major in the health sciences such as vet science, med, optometry, physio.

So that's one reason explaining the surge in demand of science at UoM.
