hmm, i never thought of it like that.  second time they were referring to the c-c double bonds, as they referred to iodine.
then they switched to double bonds in the molecule.

i'm not really sure now, which is why i guess i put down both to try and cover everything...

Lol it's only someone in my position who didn't see everything the first time that would perceive this kind of thing. But it's much better to be in your position xD.

I think its good to clarify that this isn't normally the case where you can put 50 answers and hope 1 is right lol. In this particular question it is ideal to put 2 since probably most people put 6 bonds and since the question was 100% explicit. I think normally markers pick only 1st answer if you put several down

What? It's anything BUT explicit, as kyzoo pointed out.

im 90% sure they will accept either ^^; in that 10% chance vcaa is evil and did this trick on purpose to see who reads questions carefully or not..

I don't think vcaa has much sympathy though, they would probably stick with 1 answer coz they need to follow a tight marking scheme. E.g. in physics if you do 2 detail studies in exam, they decided to correct 1st one only even if you did better in 2nd..

How do you even do two detailed studies? you have one multi-choice answer sheet and you select what you did there.

I think they just ask for another sheet

It's the same in Further Maths.  They only mark the first 3 modules that you have started.

It will be 7. They asked a question, and to answer it correctly you would have to write 7, as simple as that.

If it was there attention, there probably wont be any marks for writing 6, and that is completely fair.

I just wanted to add that our head of chemistry at school was determined that the answer would be 6 and not 7 double bonds. Although I wrote 6, I even challenged him and he was very firm and defended his stance that the desired answer was 6 double bonds...

I think alot of teachers will complain if VCAA only accepts 7 as the answer

I doubt they would do it, because in the text before the question they said carbon-carbon double bonds. Surely they wouldn't make the exam that easy, then try and do things like that.. but who knows :/
