Not being meticulous enough in SACs -> Concede 1st rank -> Bad moderation due to poor exam performances from everyone else =(

Same thing in exams, especially maths. . .

Not doing English Language. They didn't offer it at my school, and I was under the impression that it was boring grammar + vocab remedial English (I now know that this is Foundation English). I know I'd do well in it, I have ample evidence that I'm awesome at linguistics, plus, I enjoy it. Not being satisfied with 1/2 English, I chose to do Lit instead, which was fun, but realistically, I'll get a better SS in English and it will be less of a workload, so I'm doing 3/4 English.

My other major regret is not taking Latin, although that means that I would have had to take Latin in years 7 & 8 instead of German, which I can barely remember.
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

Doing subjects i didn't enjoy, doing them purely because they were prerequisites for university courses. To make it even worse, the teachers that taught the subjects were shithouse.

Although i know i will get into my first preference, i could have achieved a higher ATAR.

I wouldn't recomend it (although I have no first hand experience). It just wouldn't be worth the ammount of work to get a suplement of <5 to your aggregate. Better to put that effort into your other subs.

I did it. It wasn't that bad. Although I did only what I needed work-wise throughout the year - which was a very manageable amount, even with six subjects.

I didn't get 6 50s, but I would say that it is very possible to do well in six subjects, unless it will force you into studying for 2+ hours per night in which case you could easily burn out (I would with that amount of extra study at home EVERY single night).

In the end though it boils down to what subjects you're planning on doing and the amount of time each subject demands for you personally.

EDIT: I did NOT mean getting 6 50s in a single year.. That would be amazing.

Business is, honestly, easy to do reasonably well in. You should be able to get 30-35 with very minimal work which will add a good point at least to your ATAR. The only potential problem may be missing your frees, but in my experience they aren't very productive anyway..

In the end though it all comes down to whether you enjoy your subjects or you really need a boost to your atar. If you think you'll enjoy business, then take it; similarly, if you need a high ATAR, take BM as with close to zero work you'll be able to get an extra 3-ish points to your aggregate.

In the end it's up to you and whether you think you can handle it.

hmmm yeah, I had this talk with my teacher at school. He wants me to do 5 subjects because he thinks i won't cope with 6. However, I got further which isn't so bad, bio is OKAY and if I do busman that will be alright as well. But it's still adding extra work and having no frees will probably get rid of my determination to work hard =/ .... IF you were in my situation with MY subjects... would you do 5 or 6 ?

I would do 6.

I don't have firsthand experience, but i've heard that busman is a subject which, even if neglected, can be quite easy to score 30+ in.

In the end, it could be a very easy +3 to your aggregate, which makes all the difference.

^that's ture, but could the time used in buisman to get a thirty be used to get an extra 3 or 4 across all your top 4 subjects? If the answer's yes then you shouldn't do another subject but if you think you will have enough extra time up your sleeve to study another subject and not neglect the others at all then go for it.
