Want to get ahead in VCE physics? (99.95/50)
« on: November 04, 2010, 08:00:48 pm »
If you're going to be doing VCE physics in 2011, then I may be of some help! The name's appianway, and I'm offering physics tuition commencing in late November to help prepare you for the trials and tribulations of VCE physics. Many students start their VCE studies in November and December, and a huge percentage find physics quite a daunting subject. That's where I come in. I'm available to tutor during the school holidays, starting in late November, to help students get a solid grasp on the fundamentals of physics before the school year actually starts.

My credentials:
  • A raw study score of 50 in VCE physics (taken in 2009 as a year 11 student)
  • Winner of the 2009 Mac.Rob Physics Prize for topping Mac.Rob SACs (including a raw average of 100 for unit 4)
  • Member of the 5 person 2010 Australian Physics Team at the International Physics Olympiad, selected from students from all around the country
  • Member of the 8 Person 2010 Australian Physics Team at the Asian Physics Olympiad
  • Won an Honourable Mention at the International Physics Olympiad, placing me as the top scoring Australian female
  • Many academic awards at Mac.Rob, including prizes for promise in science, flair in experimental science, extra-curricular and leadership success, as well as general excellence prizes for being in the top 10 students in my cohort every single year
  • Currently undertaking UMEP physics, with a HD average
  • Numerous high distinctions and prizes in science competitions, including the Science Talent Search, the NQEs for physics and chemistry (the qualifying round of the olympiads), the National Chemistry Quiz and the AMC, as well as a few other national ones

I also have good communication skills, and I was my school Music Captain this year. I've competed in debating, and I've won a few public speaking and writing prizes. I will be continuing my involvement with the olympiad program (albeit not as a student), and I have a passion for education and scientific problem solving. When it comes to tutoring, I emphasize the importance of the fundamental concepts and creative thinking.

In addition to VCE physics, I am willing to tutor students in younger year levels. I have studied French, Chemistry, English Language, English and Mathematical Methods, and I am willing to tutor these subjects on request.

For more information and contact details, please send me a personal message.

Heavily endorsed - you won't find somebody with more Physics knowledge than this girl, and she IS top 5 in Australia in the 2010 cohort for it...  Lovely person too - you'll be entertained by her hyperactiveness or something.  xD

Father studied physics for 6 years at university. Received top of the class marks in 90% of work/exams. Had much of his work published in science magazines.
+ General physics enthusiast. Many many books on the shelves.

Assumption- The mother of all fuck-ups. :P

Appianway does sound hugely impressive though...
I mean she competed at the Physics Olympiad ffs.

Thanks for the correction about the year :)

Just thought I'd add that I can also provide assistance for the SAT Subject Tests in Maths (level 2) and Physics.

You're not going to live up to your namesake with your attitude. I don't understand why you are simply going around trying to bring other people down from what they're passionate about.
