doubt it :(
otherwise everyone would probably get 4, having stuffed up part a)
they did it on purpose, to separate people i swear.

yeah, they would have made it a show question and save themselves the trouble of consequential marking if they wanted to give it.

dumb though, because the number or people on 35/40 will be huge.  have fun working that one out vcaa morons...

Hy maybe this year is like 2008 so what TT said above may happen!

one can only pray!

but well done to everyone who got it.

just annoyed for working so hard, and the possibility of getting 35/40 really is a disaster.

it was like my worst nightmare came true in the exam room.

It's truly astonishing to imagine thousands of people around the state simultaneously staring at the same question and thinking "AARGH HOW THE F DO YOU DO THIS?"

I wonder if the combined power of those negative thoughts caused any small animals to die? If so, the VCAA have a lot to answer for.

if everyone had difficulty with that question... wouldn't you still get high rank despite that? like with statistical moderation or whatever they do... i.e. you can still drop 5 marks and still get a high ss because everyone else dropped 5 marks...

i dunno lol goodluck

I doubt that everyone dropped 5 marks, there's going to be a fair amount of people who solved it... and it's a lot of marks to drop in one methods exam. However, if it is true that the exam's general difficulty this year was higher than last year's to the cohort, then yes, you can afford to drop a few more marks.

My mind is blown. I was really surprised to see that there was an actual geometry question worth 2 whole marks on the methods exam :P

Shit i forgot about units^2, you think they will penalise?

Nope, they won't
Look at 2007 Question 9b. It say's nothing about units^2.
Hope that puts your mind at ease.

Knowing how unpredictable VCAA can be...I'm not so sure.

I think the thing that really shits me even over the cone question... (as I suppose it IS on the study design..
and VCE have their reasons in wanting to separate the higher performing students etc. etc.)

.. is VCAA's 2010 Exam 1 CAS Samples questions. So misleading, what the hell. I did those
questions over and over to make sure I knew how to do them and paid extra attention
when I encountered other similar questions whilst revising. Waste of time.
