^I think you'll find that wasn't required for that question.

I'm quite certain there were 3 questions that had 3 letters in the questions, all of them required to state the values of them, and also said they were non-zero constants.

Regardless just to be on the safe side I put it in.

Two questions required you to state the values: The transformations one and the tangent one.

I'm looking at the exam right now, and it does not state to find the values of a, b and c.

Look.

I don't see why they wouldn't give consequential marks...

Surely using the answer you got in part a) used in part b) would get you consequential marks at least.
Was q11 out of 6 all together?
They couldn't just let students lose 5 marks, just like that.

No, q11 was out of 5. Namely 2/1/2. And if you used your incorrect answer for part a) in part b), since part b) was only worth one mark, you probably would've lost the mark because if it's a single mark, it's usually a mark for the answer. You may have gotten 1 consequential mark for c), however, if you used the wrong figures but did the right thing. ;)

Consequential marks apply to the method only. Not answer marks.
so if you screw up the first part and the next question is worth 3 marks, you will get 2 out of 3 marks.
Hence with cone question, if you stuff up the similar triangles, you get 1/2, 0/1 and 1/2.
Hence 2 marks out of 5

Similar triangles marking scheme was most likely like this

First Question
1 mark - Show you're using similar triangles methods
1 mark - Show h in terms of r

Second Question
1 mark - Sub in h from previous question (answer mark only)

Third Question
1 mark - Show you need to differenciate
1 mark - Answer at which it is maximum (answer mark)

Therefore if you got part A incorrect, you can gain a maximum of 1 mark.

Correct, considering you get the methodology (but numbers wrong) for part a) and c). :)

Do consequential marks apply to those questions separated into smaller questions (i, ii, iii, etc.)?

Because I completely messed up 2b) where I had integrated 1/(1 - x) into loge|1 - x| (no negative sign) and ended up with p = 2 (everything else was fine except for the negative which would've made it 1/2). Can anyone just tell me whether I'd get ANY marks for it so I don't have to beat myself up over it every second of my life? x.x

I think it really depends how many marks the questions were worth. Any question worth more than 1 mark would get you consequential marks.

Alright, thanks for that answer, it put my mind at ease a little bit, all I can hope for now I suppose is that they'll give me some marks...

You'll most probably get one mark. I got as far as tan(x)=1\rt(3) and was told that was one mark

Well done ;)

I forgot about Exams..especially methods, but you reminded me.
