Can a teacher be sacked for doing this???

No just get the teacher to make a formal statement apologising to the students ^_^ oh and then to "win" back the students, she should take them out to lunch some place (hehe). Oh and of course never repeat that sort of behaviour again ^_^

Another thing, maybe ask the teacher to see the school's counsellor or something, because there must be something behind her recent outburst =), or possibly ask the principal to speak to her privately, to see what's going on.

Something similar happened at my school a few years back. A teacher got sacked from my school for swearing, ranting and yelling at a class of year 6s for not doing well enough on their spelling tests...("ISN'T MY TEACHING GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU RICH SHITS?!!")

I'd defs contact the prinicipal about this. It's not minor enough to solely notify the head of sport. Teachers are supposed to set examples and take care of their students, not intimidate them.

That was my soccer team all of last year. We're so awesome ~_~. It was so funny when, at the soccer awards, our coach had to talk about our progress throughout the year.
