Please explain to me how I got only 35 raw...

GA 1 (Unit 3 SACs): B+
GA 2 (Unit 4 SACs): A
GA 3 (Oral/Written Exam): A+
Study Score: 35

I don't understand this at all. I full marked every single SAC except for 3 which I lost 0.5, 1 and 1 mark respectively. These should have been scaled to full marks because of how well I did in the exam since I got an A+ for that. And all I get is 35...?

It depends also on the average mark exam mark of your class or school. So your SACs may get pulled down if class didn't do well in the exam.
A A B+ = 33 :(

Also, I have a friend that goes to the same school as me, just a different campus. We even have the same teacher.

We compare our SAC marks after the teacher gives them back to us and I have beaten him in every single SAC.
Also he got B+ for the exam while I got A+ for mine.

However he ended up getting A+, A, B+ and a study score of 34.

They do that to combat teachers who mark their students up. So its better to have a strict teacher that marks you down slightly, so when it comes to the exam if you get a better score, it gives an indication that the teacher was being too harsh in standards, so they mark the SACs up to compensate.
In reality I was getting like 15s for my SACs, and pretty much had no hope for 30+.

i got A+ A+ A+ and an SS of 43.

Honestly, I'm disappointed..dwelling over a tremendous feeling of regret. I know i could've gotten much higher, but argh.

Still congrats, now just let the scaling work its magic :)

How do we figure out how much it will scale by?

I think my class did really bad in the exam. So does that mean, if they do bad in the exam, their SACs scale down and as a result, so do mine?

They do that to combat teachers who mark their students up. So its better to have a strict teacher that marks you down slightly, so when it comes to the exam if you get a better score, it gives an indication that the teacher was being too harsh in standards, so they mark the SACs up to compensate.
In reality I was getting like 15s for my SACs, and pretty much had no hope for 30+.

True my teacher does mark really nicely, as seen by my full marks in SACs. However the other people in my class don't exactly get that high in SACs either. They usually get around 16-18 while I get 19.5-20.

In the end, who can I blame? My class or my teacher?

The grading also takes into account, the individuals scores too. So if the student's grades reflect the standard shown in the exam, the amount you get pulled down by will be less.

I think "blame" is a bit strong. If there's anyone to blame, it's probably VCAA for having a shitty way of marking everything :P LOL

I'm in a class of 8, I know my classmates didn't do as well as you -- although the two I spoke to are not background students. They're still really happy with what they got though, and even though I'm not entirely happy.. Well.. It still scales up heaps, and I'll just work harder in my other subjects for next year :)

(Also, I did better than my brother, so huzzah xD)

The scaling is only about 7 this year. It was 10. Apparently cause the chinese average standard is getting higher and higher so the scaling is only going to get lower.

I'm also in a class of 8 which includes both SL and SLA. I'm the best in my class out of all the SL and even better than most of the SLA students.

I've asked 2 people what they got for Chinese and they said 22 and 23. This means?
