Why is UoM Biomed in so much more demand and popularity than the Monash Biomed? There is a difference of around 6/7 ATAR points..

That's a good way to do it. They would have to be totally heartless to reject you now though.

I agree with some of the other people that have posted, DON'T tell them anything unless you are uncomfortable doing the course without the require prerequisite. If you think you can manage it, the only possible responses you will get will be, "Oh... Ok then, don't worry about it" or "Ok a mistake has been made, I'm really sorry but I'm going to need to withdraw your offer," and somehow I think the latter is more likely. Fair enough, if you don't think you can handle the course without bio, give them a call and discuss your options but if you think you'll be fine then just sit back and thank your lucky stars that somebody made a mistake.

I got into Arts at Monash... A bit upset because I would have just missed out on Law with SEAS but I guess that's how it works. Crossing my fingers for second round or internal transfer after a year.

probably because lots of people think that if they do biomed, then they can automatically get into graduate medicine. they think hey!! medicine for an enter of 98!! then lots of them get in and end up disappointed..
apparently the same thing happens at monash, in the hope that they can get into melbourne grad medicine, but naturally nowhere near as much as melbourne where the course is..

I think it's pretty self explanatory.

What? I don't think anyone in biomed is stupid enough to think that "they can automatically get into graduate medicine" by doing biomed. That's just retarded..

There are a lot of year 12 students/new 1st years who don't know anything about entry to graduate medicine other than "I need to finish my degree".

Doesn't help that the uni markets biomedicine and writes copy to support the idea that it's a feeder course for the MD, when in reality it's not.

I actually think MOST people doing Biomed take it with the hope of going into graduate medicine.

I'd like to note that 95% of students in that course scored an ATAR of 98.45 or above, so if you didn't make the cut for first year, I don't think your chances are dramatically improving once doing Biomed.

Then again it is a second chance nonetheless, so best of luck.
