The popularity of the UoM Biomed course is due to the idea that Monash Medicine is too selective (and possibly too out-of-the-way for students), and that students who complete the biomedicine course have naturally a "higher preference selection" for Graduate Med at Melbourne Uni as opposed to those doing the general sciences course. Personally, screw graduate offering, I want/need direct entry!
Also the prestige of UoM apparently precedes it, as back in the past it was the go-to uni for all things medical. Monash was apparently second-rate back in the day.

You don't need direct entry, you just want it.

And yeah, most of the students either intend to apply for graduate medicine or have at least considered it (perhaps 75% of students was the rough estimate)

Nothing official, there are plenty of rumours but nothing I'd give credence to. I'll ask MDHS next time I'm in (Friday)

Yeah, nothing official even though offers were made ages ago and in fact, I think the med students start at the end of this month!

Is it just me, or is anyone else having lots of trouble getting through Monash's online enrolment process? The pages load sooooo slowly!!!! I've spent hours and everytime I finally get to a new page, an error message comes up!!

Update: The VTAC letter is basically the same as what we saw online.
Latrobe emailed me but its a generic welcome letter.
Tomorrow I will call and confirm my offer without mentioning biology.
