Update: The VTAC letter is basically the same as what we saw online.
Latrobe emailed me but its a generic welcome letter.
Tomorrow I will call and confirm my offer without mentioning biology.

I suggest emailing them. It's always better to have written evidence/backup.

Haven't really followed the iffets situation closely but am I correct in understanding that Biology and Chemistry are both required for Dentistry? When was this implemented and what other courses require Biology and Chemistry?

Implemented this year, but with mass confusion as their handbook didn't state it and the vtac guide said BOTH. Latrobe website only update it's "OR" to a "BOTH" halfway through the year apparently.

Is it just me, or is anyone else having lots of trouble getting through Monash's online enrolment process? The pages load sooooo slowly!!!! I've spent hours and everytime I finally get to a new page, an error message comes up!!

They've probably waived it. Send a generic email asking whether that's the case.

Given the confusion and the wording, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave a little leeway with the pre-requisites - after all, what could be worse than having students crying, then making angry phone calls at this time of the year?

Yea but I did that after results came out before VTAC applications closed and the woman was pretty short with me when I attempted to bully her...she basically said "No I am sorry you will have to apply next year as a Non-Year 12 applicant"

My thoughts are that they were unable to implement the both requirement. If you start year 12 wanting to do Dentistry but have no awareness of the pre-req, you shouldn't be adversely affected by their failure to properly notify you of the changes.
Therefore even if they said - oh sorry - you would possibly have even legal grounds to  challenge them and effectively enforce your place now that you have been given it.
But pretty much, my guess is that they realised their mistake and have subsequently made it an OR requirement for this year due to the issue.
You should ring them up anonymously as suggested. You should not act unaware though - I'd say that would make you out as dishonest and potentially may result in a situation further in the year where you could literally be in trouble.
But I'd suggest that because of the confusion this is a grey area. But really it seems objectively they have failed to implement their own pre-reqs due to their failure to notify you.

I don't think you could call up anonymously... there are around 90 to 100 round one offers that were made (in Latrobe Dentistry) and they could easily go through all of these students and see which meet the prerequisites and which don't.

Why is UoM Biomed in so much more demand and popularity than the Monash Biomed? There is a difference of around 6/7 ATAR points..

probably because lots of people think that if they do biomed, then they can automatically get into graduate medicine. they think hey!! medicine for an enter of 98!! then lots of them get in and end up disappointed..
apparently the same thing happens at monash, in the hope that they can get into melbourne grad medicine, but naturally nowhere near as much as melbourne where the course is..

What? I don't think anyone in biomed is stupid enough to think that "they can automatically get into graduate medicine" by doing biomed. That's just retarded..

i think the majority of us take the course knowing we will have to work our butts off to maintain the highest GPA possible and try for graduate med
