Basically, I didn't do Specialist Mathematics last year. It wasn't a requirement for Science/Engineering, so I got an offer. However, I'm now up to the unit selection stage of WES and after having my enrolment barred, I got the following error:
ERROR submitting enrolment form
ENG1030 - Please refer to the handbook or consult your Faculty. Rule breach unit ENG1030
Student has not satisfied a co-requisite (institution-wide) for unit ENG1030. Student must have studied any unit in {ENG1091, ENG1902, MTH1030}.
Remove this unit from the enrolment form and submit again.
The units in which I am supposedly enrolling (following the course handbook) are:
Semester 1
MTH1020, ENG1030, PHS1011, FIT1029
Semester 2
MTH1030, ENG1060, PHS1022, FIT1008
Hell, to quote the course handbook verbatim:
Stage one
All students to complete:
* ENG1030 Electrical engineering
* ENG1060 Computer for engineers
* PHS1011 Physics (or PHS1080 Foundation physics)
* PHS1022 Physics
Select one pair of mathematics units from:
* MTH1020 Analysis of change and MTH1030 Techniques for modelling
* MTH1030 Techniques for modelling and MTH2010 Multivariable calculus
Select one pair of science units from:
* ASP1010 Earth to cosmos - introductory astronomy and ASP1022 Life and the universe
* BIO1011 Biology I and BIO1022 Biology II
* CHM1011 Chemistry and CHM1022 Chemistry
* ESC1011 Planet earth and its environment: The cosmic connection, and ESC1022 Planet earth: Dynamic systems, environmental change and resources
* FIT1029 Algorithmic problem solving and one of FIT1002 Computer programming, FIT1008 Introduction to computer science or FIT2014 Theory of computation
* STA1010 Statistical methods for science and MTH1112 Numbers, logic and graphs
(Total: 48 points)
So, I can choose only the following pair of mathematics (not having done Specialist Mathematics):
* MTH1020 Analysis of change and MTH1030 Techniques for modelling
But, the requirements for both ENG1030 and ENG1060 are MTH1030, so this means (as far as I can see) that I can't do either of my Engineering units in the first semester because I must do MTH1030 in second semester (MTH1020 during the first as it is a prerequisite).
So, what am I meant to do? Am I stuck in an impossible situation? :tickedoff:
