If MHS wasn't so controlling, i would have done

1 in Yr 10 (BM)
3 in Yr 11 (Bio, Latin, Physics)
4 in Yr 12 (Spec, Methods, English, Chemistry)

Why 8 subjects? Also curious, why Latin in Year11?
2011 - English, English Language, Philosophy, Indonesian SL, Outdoor and Environmental Studies.

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

If I was allowed to, I would do:

Year 10 - English Language 3/4 :D

Year 11 - Methods + English Language (repeat til I'm satisfied)

Year 12 - My current subjects (in sig.) -- repeating English Language until satisfied.

Unfortunately, my school only allows you to do 1 unit 3/4 in year 11 and nothing in year 10 :(.
To be honest, I really think the system has too many flaws - everyone in VCE should have to do the same number of unit 3/4's in the same number of years. Its a very big advantage to do more subjects before year 12 (in my opinion).

Hmm..same as what I'm doing now probably

Year 11: Accounting, Legal
Year 12: Vietnamese, English, Revolutions, Methods, Chemistry
So 7 overall and the lowest wouldn't count and the second and third lowest would count 10%.

Five did the trick for me with no 3/4s in year 11.

Good man. I'm doing five all up too, won't get to the 97 ATAR as yourself but it gives me some confidence. ;)

If my school wasn't so strict, I would of done VCE Chinese in year 10.

I know a few people who have done this/ are doing it currently ... it seems to work really well.
The only problem I have is that my school doesn't allow you to do any 1/2s in year 10, which is a bit annoying - once I got to year 11 and realized that year 10 was a complete waste of time, I wished I'd been able to do a 1/2

I was wondering, how does the points thingie work when you only do 5 subjects? Generally people do 6 subjects and the teachers explain the points thingie using 6 subjects too.

You just miss out on the 10% from a 6th subject.

The 1 + 2 + 4 is an increasing trend among top students.

IMO, this is the best path. Sadly, not enough schools allow such flexibility...

Yeah, if only. I think 2 in year 11 should definitely by considered by every school though - and certain subjects should be allowed  :tickedoff:

Year 11 - 2 Subjects
Year 12 - 4 Subjects + 1 Enhancement Study

Path I am taking, and it doesn't feel incredibly difficult.
Year 11 - Methods and Physics.
Year 12 - Chemistry, Specialist, French, English and MUEP Maths.

Enhancement is like half a subject anyway because you don't need to know the nuances of the course as is required for VCE.
