Well if you get 38/40 or 39/40 and you get 78-80/80 (depending on how hard Exam 2 is) you could still get a 50 if you SACs are good.

Remember, this years Exam 1 was much harder than last years.

lol

Calm down, it will be all right. No one that I have talked to so far is going to get a 40. Most smart ppl make a mistake here or there. I know for myself I mucked up that (A' B) question and so lost one mark. (39/40)

Silly mistakes= Gay way to lose marks.

I reckon you can still get a 50 with a 39/40 in Exam 1, if you kill exam 2.

hey i'm a newbie here =] anyway, i thought the exam wasn't that hard, but i made one dumb mistake, in 8b) - didn't cancel out the pi properly  :x  i agree, i hate silly mistakes so much! one question...would it be considered 'wrong' if i wrote a '+c' at the end of my antiderivative in Q7?

What was the question? Did it say find "an antiderivative" or find "the antiderivative," or was it *gasp* a definite integral (in which case a +C definitely would be wrong!).

don't think so cause that would still be "an" anti derivative

Edit: wait actually thats a family of derivatives.

With "an antiderivative," I believe they want you to explicitly choose a value of C. For the purposes of staying awake, I prefer to make my C = 1. People tend to choose C = 0, but it gets you in the inconsistent habit of forgetting the +C altogether sometimes, I reckon.

i cant remember whether it was needed, but i put the +C...
i dont think it asked for  "an antiderivative" but just a general one...

They asked for "AN antiderivative" I'm sure coz i looked at it carefully and even underlined the AN to remind myself not to put the +c haha..

maybe they'll be nice and give us the mark anyway  :) coz remember, they were nice about ppl forgetting to put 'dx' on the end of integrals etc. last year

my teacher was saying they can take half marks off, but if theyre left with a non integer score, like 39.5 they would make it 39. so now i should hope that by that logic, my minor error with reading pr(x>2) as pr (x>=2) should get 1.5/2 and my other error with plus C warrants another half mark...so 1.5/2...leaving me still with 39/40 hehe LOL
