physics = Further maths

Today in my first sac of year 12 physics, I discovered that PHYSICS, is just another stupid further maths.
I lost so much marks because the question was tricky. Lack of concentration ruined everything.

How many sacs do we have for physics in a year?
I stuffed up in further maths at the start of the year but I fixed up later and got 43, a decent mark.
Dont know if it is going to happen with this subject.

Are you just ranting against physics, or asking for some info?

In answer to your query about number of SACs, we have 6. 3 per semester and an exam per semester. I assume most schools would be the same...

This thread is not one to just ask questions. Im guessing we are allowed to discuss the subject. SO that is what I am doing.

Do all schools have 6 sacs a year

Fair enough then, I just wasn't sure whether it was a question too...

Although I don't think physics is a 'further maths'. They are both conceptually different and the general consensus is that physics is harder.

Further is heaps easier than physics, and get use to the tricky questions since all maths subjects will have some sort of tricky questions on the exam

I don't appreciate the denigration of physics as though it were further maths. There's a reason further isn't considered as a pre-req for essentially any degree.

He doesn't mean that physics is exactly like further, rather it has a few similarities in terms of detail. In further it is very easy to lose marks for silly mistakes just like physics. He obviously knows that physics is different to further... true Halil! In conclusion physics is gay! ;)

Physics is not "gay". It's actually a pretty eays subject, that's why you can't hand out easy SACs and let everyone get 100% and risk your best student lose a mark by accident and get a terrible rank.

Tricky questions act as great seperators and help the better students rank highly. For that reason, you need to do a lot of practice questions and make sure you do different types of questions so you are prepared for that odd question.

Bomb I understand what you mean, but you see, we did not do any tests before the sac. So we did not know how tricky things can get. After all, you can know what something is until you try it. Now we know it.

Oh well, I thought I would get a low mark for it but pulled a 87%, rank 3. Not bad I guess.

Hm, did you do all textbook/checkpoints questions for the relevant topics?

Often, teachers just manipulate questions from there.

I'd be willing to agree to some extent. For the better students (I'm really speaking about anyone on this forum) who's able to do well, it really comes down to not making mistakes rather than knowing how to do questions - so it's a lot like further in that regard. One mistake can really bomb you out...
