i'm still yet to see the differences between all the left choices. maybe i'm ignorant.....or maybe they all have identical policies!

Same.
maybe I should ask them how they are different to any of the other ones.
We have one appropiately named Left Action
the two main ones are Go! (with the ! because they think they are so special) and the other one excal tells me renamed themself every year because they always lose :P

i heard about that, i'm pretty sure its one (or both) of the liberal groups. they are all missing out on a very important factor. THE GIMMICK FACTOR. right now, whoever has the best gimmicks, will get my vote. and at the moment, that's nobody.

From their leaflet:

* No ties with Labor - an MSA prepared to criticise Rudd when necessary.
* Reduce HECS and repeal VSU!
* Life the ban on same-sex marriage
* Increase visibility and accessibility of MSA - more active collectives around both campus and broader social issues
* Increase Youth Allowance and Austudy - no student poverty!

Oops ... I didn't notice the "repeal VSU" bit. It was the same sex marriage bit that got me. My bad :-[
(and yes I realise there's probably not much a SU can do about same sex marriage, but it's nice to find people who share my beliefs for once ...)

Ah well, lucky I didn't vote for the anti-VSU then

The reason why they have no problems cutting away from Labor is that they're so far left it's ridiculous. They only put the reasonable shit on their pamphlet. But I was talking to their guy running for president, and let's just say they're not as savoury as they sound.

There's generic names like "StandUp" and "Yes," although they could just be covering up ideologies like communism and fascism.

They're all inevitably going to be far left, or far right (mostly left).

A poster seen at uni:

Attention Douchebags (ie Yes!)

The 2am lockout ended 2 weeks ago.
We aren't going to vote for you to waste our union resources.

Maybe spend some money on problems that haven't already been solved.
Revolutionary, isn't it.

Didn't learn that in how-to-be-a-liberal-scumbag-101, did you?

I voted for the 2 left groups today, reasons for voting for them outweighed reasons for not doing so

Who won the UMSU elections? Was squizzing Farrago, quite liked the look of neophyte's party, YES! [though that's just from having read the candidate statements.] Liberals did themselves no favours, imho, with lame jokes and ad hominems [apart from a couple of well thought-out statements.]

Liberal do not serve any purpose except to antagonise the left (which is amusing sometimes).
