commerce is like 95 clearly in, if you go to underrep school, your automatically in with a 90.
for arts, guaranteed is 85 but clearly in is more like 91, 92, once again, automatically in with 90.

all above= benefits

oh and btw, underrep schools aren't necessarily rural, like a third of the secondary schools in melb area are under represented at melbourne uni, but i think more.

Haha. The thing I don't get is, how does it even benefit the university? By lowering the entrance score, don't you just open yourself up to crappy candidates that could otherwise be filled up with higher potential candidates?

Well when everyone was whinging about the melb model they were about to rant about how they are offering more scolarships than ever, and how they have even implemented a new scholarship program aimed to help rural students etc etc. Also it's good advertising for them. When we went to the KLD event, we were able to stay at one of the colleges the night before, then the next day we talked to melb students, went for a tour around the uni, and then had to sit through one of the melb model spiels.  And then we get sent pamphlets etc.

...sigh that sounds greatly *interesting*..... grr

oh btw on the note of keyboard gliding, linkin park has an unreleased song "QWERTY" haha, LP Freakin' on The Wall~

and what count as "under-represented"? our school only had 86 yr12 this year (we're new school too, that's the first bunch), and next year about 150 for the second bunch (my bunch XD), of which about a dozen will get 40s in SS of any subject (SouthEast bogans all dumbasses, wat u expect?), would we count as under-represented?

...and does it take much time away from normal school classes?

I think 'under-represented' means that the percentage of students from a school who get into that uni is low. So if not many students from your school get into melb uni, you could be in luck. You can check on the melb uni website

edit: i just realised you said you were the first bunch, so I'm not sure how they will figure it out. I guess you must be under-represented because noone from your school has been to melb uni ?? :-\ yeah you'll have to check the website
