Haven't been on VN in a while...
Anyway.
Section A - I did Hard Times (the first one). Talked about Sissy and Bitzer, Tom and Louisa, and how Gradgrind's theories/philosophy changes and becomes one that positively affects people... or something :S Wrote about 5-6 pages

Section B - I did Whose Reality. Made up some heading and did an intro, anecdote (on post traumatic stress disorder) and two on Streetcar (one on Stella and one on Blanche). I couldn't really think what to write, so I probably didn't structure the essay very well. Wrote about 4 pages

Section C - I found it okay, as I found techniques to write about. Not really sure how I did on it. Wrote about 4-5 pages.

I found my handwriting changed from big and round, to squashed and slanty when I looked back over it. :D
But my writing was quite large.

Not really sure how I went and don't really want to know.

I've been wondering what does it take to get an A+ in the English exam?

26+/30?

Judging by how many people think that they had absolutely felt like 'shit' after the exam (especially on BOS :P), we can probably expect the A+ cut-off to be lower. :)

But every year there are people who feel like shit and people who dont. Can someone tell me if the English A+ cut off fluctuates year by year by much? I cbf checking the grade distributions lol.

the things that might change the mark would be
a) capabilities of people in context
b)changes in how much each section now adds to the entire score (1/3 for each section)

Text Response : I did first question LBW and it's probably the only part of the exam I did decent on. Even then, I still feel pretty mediocre about it. I barely discussed setting at all, I only talked about trains, birds, signs and weather. A bit less than 3 pages but my writing is pretty small.

Context: I did this part last, and wrote a letter from Stella to the mental asylum Blanche is sent to (A Streetcar named Desire, Whose Reality?). Lol I did the same thing for a SAC we did where the prompt was similar and got an A but on the exam it lacked structure and depth grr. Lol less than 2 pages.

Language Analysis: Just shit. I couldn't think of the names of techniques, like how to explain the use of the words "toxic" and "poisoning", for example and the whole thing was pretty messy. Probably 2 pages.

According to last years stats. An A+ was a 23.5+ out of 30 for English.

Thats only a 7,7 and 8. Given, that the exam seemed quite hard, id say it will be similar, if not lower?

But even still, thats still pretty low.

Here are the rest,

A+ --> 23.5 - 30.0
A   --> 21.0 - 23.5
B+ --> 20.0 - 21.0
B   --> 18.0 - 20.0
C+ --> 16.0 -18.0
C  --> 14.0 -16.0

And so on
VCE 2007 - Outdoor and Environmental Studies - 44 (40.80)

VCE 2008 - English - 41 (40.61)
                Maths Methods CAS - 30 (37.46)
                Chemistry - 33 (37.93)
                Biology - 36 (36.68)
                Health & Human Development - 46 (44.49)

ENTER: 94.15 (!)

I thought the exam in itself was pretty simple, but I don't think I did my best. I don't think I did badly, either though.
SECTION A- I did the 2nd Look Both Ways question.. I think I wrote close to 5 pages. Both questions for the film were rather easy, really.
SECTION B- Whose reality? Ugh. that prompt was just ugh. It absolutely SCREAMED streetcar & eternal sunshine, not so much  Enduring Love or sharknet.. and I found it was tailored more towards creative than expository responses.. anyway.. I wrote a diary/ reflection by Stella (streetcar) about Blanche's conseqences for evading reality and her consequences, even though she faced reality.. I added like 5 or 6 outside quotes into it too. I did about 4 pages
SECTION C- The article was too freakng simple! There were practically no techniques and the sam thing was really awkward. I wrote 3.5 pages for that.. I usually write way more than that, so I couldnt have done that well.

Eh, its over now...

damn, the intervals after A+ shorten heaps. it should be the same tho given the introduction of the context section. i hope it is anyway. because other than that the exam wasn't overly hard.
