I need to read something these holidays, anyone have any suggestions??
Thanks

Capitalism and Freedom - Milton Friedman

It's a classic, and he's passed away now, so you might have to look at a more academic library, but I think you'll still be able to find a copy at your local library. It is non-fiction, but provides a valuable insight to how the world works.

It is about political ideas, but if you liked the quote you have in your signature by John Ruskin, then you should find this book will reflect on truths that are even more captivating than Ruskin's thoughts.

Masters of Reality - Traci Harding

very crappy sci-fi/fantasy novel, but it's addictive stuff. sigh.

also have about 4-5 maths books i'm reading on the go, on convexity, intro to hilbert spaces, ordinary differential equations, complex analysis...

oh, and i'm going to go buy the new Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, and the new Ben Elton novel, with Borders and Angus & Robertson gift vouchers that i got for christmas  :)

a lot have websites so check if your local one has a website which will tell you all about registering to become a member, what you need (if anything) etc.

finished HP7 about a week ago (never got around to reading it when it came out) and then just before that i finished "a thousand splendid suns" by khaled hosseini.  i quite liked it and i'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed studying the kite runner.

the next book on my "to read" list is a german translation of a sergio bambaren book, called "die zeit der sternschnuppen".  i finished vce german two years ago and we don't really speak it at home so figured reading german books (along with with watching german movies) is a good way to keep the language up.  does anyone else read foreign language books?
