I just finished reading David Malouf's "Fly Away Peter" for school. I personally didn't really like it, it had some good moments, but it's not my kind of book.

i've read robert jordan the wheel of time series ... and ian irvines view from the mirror series ... and the well of echoes series from him as well...and harry potter series ... and now reading terry goodkinds the sword of truth series... so yeah fantasy ftw!
Ian Irvines...I like his books too. Have you read his Song of the Tears Trilogy?(only 2 of the 3 written atm though, continues on from the Well of Echoes)
I've just read I Am Legend by Richard Matheson (waiting to see the movie). I'm about to start reading Kate Elliott's Spirit Gate.

yeah, i read that too for english in yr11. i personally really dislike malouf's writing style; he focuses a lot on imagery and as a result his structure and flow is shocking. there's a sentence in that book that goes for 3/4 of a page, for god's sake! shocking stuff.

I'm reading: "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" and "A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian"

Both very benign titles but [so far] awesome reads.

Anyway, you have to keep in mind I haven't read nothing yet. For like, ever. The only thing I've considered is going through the vce english books and picking things from there (surely some of them have to be good? =/)

I just finished reading 'The Persimmon Tree' by Bryce Courtenay. His books tend to have similar characteristics such as events and such, but I still love his books :p. I'm also a big fan of Matthew Reilly books :).
