I originally planned to but..

for subjects like specialist maths, physics and chemistry, is it really necessary? If you keep doing questions, I think the concepts and ideas will stay fresh in your mind.
I can only use methods for example and not sure if it applies for anything else but by practicing and practicing, by the end, summaries and notes were not needed.

Specialist: yes. You will need bound notes. Unless you are crazy and take weeks off to do this kind of stuff towards the end of the year [very silly] to write the notes, I suggest now is a good time to start. I also suggest doing it electronically, so it is easy to edit, add in stuff and etc.

For Physics: yes. You will need to write cheat-sheets, which is just a condensed version of awesome notes. You should be noting down key explanations and formulas so you have a list to condense from towards exams

For Chem: yes. You are not able to take any notes into exam, but there are just too much stuff to remember to revise. You will miss important things during revision, so having notes as you go is important for a checklist towards the end.

Silly me did none of the above, which is why I was nowhere near the Ahmad-God-Like results. :)

For Chem unit 3 I found it useful to make notes because there is a bit of memorising to do, with the biology-like sections and different analytical techniques and stuff.

I didn't make any notes for Spec (other than class notes), ended up using my textbook as my bound reference with random extra info stuck inside (stole it from Mao's beautifully formatted boundnotes).

yer i'd expect biology to require you to make revision notes. There's a lot of rote learning in it, so i've heard.

I'm making chem notes as I go. Some of it is important things to remember, key methods, mistakes not to make, stuff I know i'll forget, hard questions, stuff I'm unsure about and will clear up later etc.
I also copy pasted some really good worded answers from the solutions text, so far I've got about 6 pages of incredibly jumbled notes, but at least it's there for me to look at.

Actually I had a separate book for my own notes.  I tended to work ahead of the class so if I used the same book it wouldn't be ordered properly and the topics would jump around alot. Yeah just looked back at my notes + textbook before sacs (literally like the period before/during lunch or recess).

I've started writing notes for chem (done the first 5 chapters so far) and some notes for philosophy and english.
I have to do some notes for biology soon too, but I don't have the text book yet :( (getting it next week and going to start notes then)
