No, for that test I finished section 1 with 5 minutes left, section 2 with 25 minutes left. For section 3, I had to guess about 4 in the last minute.
I won the GAT: 49/50/50.

Wow - I'm in awe with your section 2 scores and the amount of time you spent on it. You got 37/40 and finished with 25 minutes!!! That is truly amazing and shows outstanding ability.

Even though this isn't the real UMAT - CONGRATZ! xD

Have any tips (other than "speed-reading") for how you complete the section so quickly?

I don't think its advisable to finish section 2 with so much time left, because more often than not, it leads to you changing your answers, which is most cases is to the wrong one. Having said tht there are countless people who dominate section 2 and find it quite easy. But if your struggling in it, i wouldn't advise finishing it with huge amounts of time left.

Thanks, but I agree with jdog -it doesn't mean I'm good at it because I do it quickly. I do it quickly becauseI find that when I spend too much time thinking about a section 2 question, I usually get confused and get it wrong. I read quite fast, so I just work through section 2 without lingering and just going with my gut feeling unless I get really stuck. It took my friend the whole 50 minutes to do the test and she the same score as me. My only advice is, if you finish early, treat the rest of the time like a break and don't go back and check everything because, in my personal experience, the first guess is usually right if you later change your mind and get it wrong.

Edit: I don't like speed reading like they suggest on the medentry website, when I read anything I say the words in my head, and I still get the test done in half the time. speed reading can make you miss important details, and speed reading twice takes more time than reading it thoroughly once through.

Ah - well, I wasn't really trying to say that he was good because he finished it quickly... lol

I was making a direct comparison between him and myself. He got 37/40 with 25 mins left, whilst I only got a 35 with about 4-5 minutes left. While you are somewhat correct in that we often change our answers to the incorrect option if we finish too early, I would still feel a lot more confident about the UMAT if I had >10 min left for this section.

Does anyone else get really engrossed into the stories of section 2? Haha - they are kind of entertaining to read sometimes.

What do you guys do for s2?
I personally don't read the questions at all:
I just read the passage
Read the question
Then go back to parts of the passage to find the answer

Many suggest to read the questions first but I find that really distracting when constantly trying to identify key words and then not understanding the passage as a whole..

You need to read the question to see if it is 'sentence-specific'. Otherwise, you'd be wasting quite a bit of time.
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Still, if its sentence specific, doesn't mean you literally only rely on that sentence right..?

Yep, you sometimes have to consider the context of the sentence in regards to the question :)

I typically do the whole 'feel how they would feel' approach. But a lot of the time i tend to get really biased against someone so it doesn't always help.
