Most of the time it's just like a normal class that you have in high school; tutor goes over concepts, students answer exercise problems or ask questions and then the tutor goes through them.

Also, as one of my tutorials is on Friday, is it possible to get my hands on the worksheets and questions given out in tutorials earlier in the week before the Friday.

Some subjects will put tutorial worksheets on LMS beforehand, otherwise could ask you friend in earlier class to take a photo of his/hers.

What about for first year Biology? How worthwhile are the tutorials?
I personally didn't find a single biology tutorial helpful for the whole year. My tutorials consisted of quick and rushed mini-lectures on the content we had covered during the week. And then spending time on tutorial questions (although its much better to just do them at home). I didn't find the tutorials helpful.

Although, unfortunately, they make attendance :(. So you have to go to at least 80% I think...

Agreed
I don't think I got much from bio tutes at all
Most of my learning was done by revising lecture notes
Managed a H1 in the end without having done VCE bio. And I hated the subject.

I got an email from melb uni telling me to buy a "required textbook" for one of my subjects. Is it actually required or can I ignore this?

Also, one of my sem 1 subjects is "not currently available", why is this? It also doesn't appear under the "subjects" tab of my LMS despite the fact that I've enrolled and have timetabled it.

I also got an email asking me to buy a biology book, but speaking to past Biomed students at UoM they say don't buy it, its completely unnecessary because the lecture notes will suffice. I guess it is just optional for you, if you want to buy the book or not.

I also received an email from the host program with a portal link attached to the email. I can't get into this portal... Anyone else had any success?

You would quite honestly derive more benefit burning your money than buying that textbook.

In regards to the textbook you can normally get away with NOT buying it (except in my experience language subjects use them very often). See how you go for the first week or so before deciding

The subjects won't appear on your LMS until the subject coordinator puts it up themselves. It will eventually but surely be up soon

Does anyone know when past exams will be published for 2015 on the library website?

Does anyone possibly have 2015 exams for:
- Physics 2: Advanced (semester 2)
- Chemistry 1 (semester 1)
- Chemistry 2 (semester 2)
- Finance 1 (semester 2)

Thanks!  :)
Currently studying at the University of Melbourne.

Would anyone advise against doing level 2 subjects in year 1 and level 3 in year 2? It's the only way I can fit in what I want to do.
