Being paid to teach doesn't mean they're going to drop everything to have results finalized by 3 weeks before the release date though. It's nice if they come out early but when I'm given things to do on top of my normal workload (ie marking junior student essays ugh) they certainly don't become a priority.

Seven weeks to mark ten reports from a summer class sounds not terribly hard to get done if you're being paid to do it.
VCE: Chemistry | Biology (2011) | English (2011) | Environmental Science | Mathematical Methods CAS

2013-2015: BSc [Zoology] @ UoM | DLang [German - DISCONTINUED]

2017-2018: MSc [Biosciences - Zoology] @ UoM

Summer: BOTA30006

S1: BOTA20001 | EVSC20004 | BOTA30003 | BIOL90001

S2: GEOG20009 | BOTA30002 | BOTA30005 | EVSC20003 | NRMT90002

Subject and major reviews incoming :)

It used to be that the studyplan would have your results updated before the actual results page but these days the results seem to be updated on both the studyplan and "my recent results" at the same time

Yeah same for me. But still, you can't really complain about the UoM results system when other Unis have to wait till the middle of July to get anything.

Stephen Best sent us an email.

Aw man. I didn't get sent an email about anything. Clearly Reactions and Synthesis is far lower on their priority list.

But seriously. PBL has a completely multi choice exam. How long does that take to mark!?

Yeah so... I got an 88 and a 90 this semester, then a 58 for the Human Condition subject. I don't even understand how harshly they marked the exams. It basically threw my chance for transfer out the window : (

Avoid the subject guys!

It's such a shitty way to end a subject considering I quite enjoyed it. I got a 95 and 100 for the evolution assignment, and when I saw that I got a 64 I was so disappointed. Like, what even.
Fourth year Bachelor of Science student at unimelb, majoring in Zoology. I also run the Unimelb Adventures blog about student life on campus: http://unimelbadventures.com

"Additional Assessment
Occasionally, and only in the case of an extremely close fail grade, you may be offered Additional Assessment by your School/Faculty.  The following conditions apply (please refer to the Assessment Procedure);

Failure in the subject (other than a research project or thesis) has a significant effect on course progression

You have achieved a grade of 45% or more (not applicable if you have failed a hurdle requirement because you did not submit a piece of work), and

You may be awarded a maximum grade of 50% as a result of Additional Assessment.

Students do not apply for Additional Assessment, but are instead offered Additional Assessment by their Faculty/School.  Please note that, due to the strict conditions involved, most students who fail a subject are not awarded Additional Assessment."

Oh I meant my other subjects were H1s, then the pass in evolution. But yeah, the assignment was also WTF, there was a huge disparity in marks. I enjoyed the subject, but the marking is bizarre.

This only applies if you're in your final year of study, I think.

That's a separate assessment called the final subject rule

Edit: I did start researching what provisions there are if you fail a subject after I enrolled in biochemistry :'D
