I have a problem with my timetable: all of my calculus 2 lectures clash with my linear algebra lectures, which means that I can't attend any lectures for linear algebra. There are 3 streams of lectures for linear algebra, and I was left with the bad stream because the other two were full (the early birds got in before me).

Can I attend lectures from the other stream, even though I'm not enrolled in that stream?

If not, should I just take linear algebra as a summer subject instead?

Yes, you can attend lectures you're not enrolled in, they don't check if you belong in the lecture stream. You can also wait for the 2nd release of places for the other lecture streams.

So when do 2nd release of places come out? And when is my last opportunity to change the timetable, including changing subjects?

I believe it's on the 24th July, probably at 10am. I'm not sure about changing subjects, but I think you can change subjects up to the census date, a few weeks into the semester.

That's really good, so I still have plenty of time :) Ideally, I'd like to know which of my subjects will get credited before I have to make this decision. On Monday morning I am going to visit the university and find out about advanced placement. I don't want to wait until Wednesday, because this will affect the subjects I choose. For example, I want to do Introduction to Actuarial Studies this semester, but I don't know if I can fit it in my degree, and it's only offered in semester 2.

31st of August is the last day you can change subjects without incurring a financial penalty and failing.

The Friday of Week 2 is the last day you can enrol in a class without requiring the permission of the coordinator (IIRC.)

Which subjects have a second release of places?
BSc (Hons) 2015 Melbourne

PhD 2016-??? Melbourne

I want to be an architect.

Would be awesome if you could do Intro to Actuarial Studies, cause then you can do it with me :D. The prerequisites for the subject is any 1st year maths subject I think, so hopefully you can get credit for a subject you did at RMIT and be able to enrol in it. Good luck

Intensive Latin apparently is quite a tough ride, so perhaps it may be a good money just to do Latin 1? You don't really get a whole lot of vocab from the classical language courses in the first year. It's just really full on grammar.

But I'm already doing Lv1 breadth #3 this semester, ahahaha. I could always get a Grad Dip in Latin from the Faculty of Arts separately, I suppose. HECS debt, hello.

According to the guide you showed me, if I take two summer subjects (Linear Algebra + Introductory Financial Accounting), then I can do 4 subjects this semester (Calculus 2 + Accounting Reports and Analysis + Introductory Microeconomics + Introduction to Actuarial Studies) and the only thing I'll be behind in after that is breadth subjects, of which I will hopefully get some credit points from what I did at RMIT. So this seems to work perfectly :D I will try to confirm it with the Commerce faculty on Monday though.

Ahh I see what you mean now, sounds like a plan. The trick however is getting credit for your RMIT subjects, so hopefully that goes in your favour.

The blog post blaming feminists for "Elliot Rodger, a 22 year old university student from California, who killed six people before committing suicide, last Friday, the 23rd of May"  also scores lul points.

Dear UNIB20007 students,

We have identified an administrative error in Quiz 3 where the answer was marked incorrectly. Since you answered this question correctly, and the quiz was worth 10% of your final grade and had 15 possible marks, we will be adding 0.67% to your final grade for GH&S.

The grades with be formally updated in the system at the end of the week, so you may not see a change to your score until then. Please be aware that due to rounding, there is a possibility that your final score will not be affected.

In the mean time, please email us if you have any concerns or questions.

The GH&S Team
