I have a question, as someone who has been doing poorly at uni, what is the best way to organize yourself for your subjects ? E.g. do you use folders, note books for tutes then one for lecture s etc etc. I am terrible at organizing my subjects and by the end of semester i usually have everything everywhere :(

i think the best way is to really just attend all classes and pay attention. Notebooks for each subject sounds good too. I don't think you have to use different ones for lectures/tutes or you'll have too much to carry, just write a lecture/tute heading on the page.

I have the worst timetable :(   8am lectures (no chance im going) and one class on monday. This is bs. NO wonder why im failing uni. People who live close to uni are so lucky. Its so draining getting a packed train to uni then getting on a packed tram then coming home it sucks. Anyone else know this feel?

Just sleep in and remember to catch up on your lectures at the library, home or uni (if you go). That's what I do because I'd probably never wake up for a 8am lecture.
BSc (2015), MD1 (2016)
Tutoring in 2016: http://www.tutorfinder.com.au/tutors/detail.php?TutorID=78301
Chuck a PM if interested :)

Available for tutoring on the summer holidays for university subjects or VCe.
Also tutoring for the Melbourne uni MMIs (medical/physiotherapy interviews)

Please don't PM me for lecture slides or recordings. I don't have them anymore.

It might differ between people. I have a plastic pocket for each subject. Then if I take written notes in class I use whatever paper I found on the day (sometimes napkins...), and put everything in random order in the pockets if I get around to it. Then I try to read them during SWOTVAC, but I can't read my handwriting and throw them out.

On my laptop I have a folder for each subject. For each there are individual subfolders for tutorials, lectures, assignments, notes, torrented textbooks, and the 'completed' subfolder. By the end of the semester, all of the subfolders in each folder are piled in the 'completed' subfolder because every tutorial/lecture/assignment subfolder has been read and/or submitted.

It makes me feel like I've made progress, which can be difficult at university. You receive a sense of accomplishment when you create something tangible with your own hands, like building furniture or cooking a new recipe. But after dozens of hours of effort at university, you only receive numbers on the screen. Which is less of a dopamine surge. We're living in a half-real world of smoke and mirrors~*~*~ wooOOOOOooooo ghost noises.

I use Google Drive and my Macbook Air for keeping uni files like lectures and readings and stuff. I also use it for tutorial discussions. I like to print myself a hard copy of the lecture notes as well as a small notebook so I can annotate and take down lots of notes during *boring* lectures. I do ALL my pre-tute work/readings for the week - this serves as my mini-revision. If not needed, I don't really use the textbook that much (too much info!). Usually, I dedicate at least 3 hours in the library to read the required texts and pre-read my lecture notes.

Re: final exams, I try to start my revision from week 10 and make a strict hour-by-hour study regimen, starting from 10am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday. I try not to study beyond 7pm because all-nighters don't work for me. Sunday is my rest day, just to break the monotony. Really, you don't need all-nighters and crammig sessions if you start revising as early as week 10.

Why do people think Geelong is so far away? It's about 55 minutes on train and about another 10-15 on bus/metro/tram.
what the. That's shorter than my trip and i live in Melbourne.

Geelong isn't as far as people think at all. Still a hike though. Last year the trains would stop at North Melbourne and then that was a quick bus ride to uni from there. Now that they don't stop there, you've effectively added on another 20-30 minutes to the journey. So an 8am start as I get every Monday morning this semester will mean a 5.00-5.30 wake up unfortunately!

One of my good friends did travel from Point Lonsdale though and that was almost a two hour journey each way and she does do Biomed as well. So send your sympathies her way!

If you are enrolled this semester does this mean the progress meeting for your study plan went well, asianguy22? If so, congratulations!! It's really great that worked out, I know you were pretty afraid. Anyone would be.
