Would people feel safe with a 67 Melbourne weighted score (68 standard) and a 6.9+ GPA?

yes.

Well done MelonBar!! :) Great to hear that you were happy with your score!!
Surprising yourself is the best!

GAMSAT UK results are out guiz.

Would people feel safe with a 67 Melbourne weighted score (68 standard) and a 6.9+ GPA? I think I might have to sit it again in March, but I doubt I will be able to improve on Section 2 & 3 any more, and Section 1 seems to be much more difficult to gauge how you went.

Yes I'd feel safe with that score. One of my friends just got a Melb med CSP with a lower GAMSAT and GPA than you.
So I think you also have a bit of breathing room in case the scores go up a bit :)
Congratulations!!

I'm just about to start preparing for the March GAMSAT (2nd time sitting it).

I was wondering a similar query for my friend in first year who sat the GAMSAT UK and managed a 63 weighted (64 standard).

Congratz man !

How hard is it to get a score like that ?
What type of study/work does it require ?
Any thoughts ?

Cheers

Congrats! A 67 gamsat and 6.9+ GPA should give a really high combo (probs 1.65+)....defs reckon you'd comfortably land an interview at most unis with that :D

Does anyone know how exactly UoM allocates clinical zones? Their policy document says it's done by merit but this isn't terribly enlightening.

Thanks in advance.

I think it would be based on gpa + gamsat and the interview?

http://pagingdr.net/info/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=207:2014-entry-minimum-scores&catid=56:gpa-and-offer-criteria&Itemid=109 has the min scores for interviews and entry to some unis (e.g Queensland) The scores should be enough for the interview :)

Nobody knows how zones are done, it's based on lots of things other than merit (gender, ethnicity, how much they like you etc.)

Thanks guys, I'm still going to resit the GAMSAT in March (for the last time hopefully - I'm so sick of this test) but it's a relief knowing there's some breathing room to at least get into a medical school somewhere in Vic. I was looking through offers on PD and got totally freaked out since it seemed as if so many successful Melbourne applicants had GAMSATs in the mid-high 70s, but hopefully that isn't too representative of the cohort. Sigh should really get away from that site.

It's possible if you're a hard and efficient worker, but a lot can hinge on how you feel on the day and to a small extent luck (I'm still unsure of why my reading score fell by 7 points seeing as how my practise scores were very high and I felt good in the exam). I just made a detailed post on the GAMSAT board so check that out too.

yeah the gamsat/gpa combo listed in heart's link seems really low (1.507) compared to the crazy scores in that thread

I'm sure there's a GAMSAT question on bias in here somewhere :3

They are just minimum scores though, and combos like 1.507 probably needed Graduate Access or Rural to be successful.

Dat negative skew. I'm just hoping it's the cream of the crop who are just posting and not the average successful applicant
