How do you get access to Charles' lectures?

That BIOM20002 mid-semester test would've been difficult for those who didn't watch Charles' lectures - otherwise it was for the most part more straightforward (and importantly less pressured for time) compared to the first test. Honestly though, how a lecturer can tell you that you don't need to memorise the cells of the gastrointestinal tract (and hence not cover it) and then slap it on the test as the first short answer question is ludicrous.
If it is still the same lecturer, he is notorious for doing this every year. Luckily I watched Charles' lectures too because it popped up as a whole question on the exam last year....matching the functions of the cells of the gut

Some PHYS20008 students have been generous enough to share their recordings.

To me this is simply not good enough. I'll have plenty to unleash when SES comes out.

Controversial: listening to Charles' lectures aren't an absolute must. Plenty of people manage to do well in HSF without access to the PHYS20008 recordings.

True, but I think Charles makes it a lot easier.

I'll go into more detail when I write my subject reviews but in short it's a subject with massive potential that turns out to be a huge letdown. Only a few changes need to be made here and there for it to be amazing, but for some reason they're not being done and they keep making the same mistakes every single year. It's not something to panic over though - if you're prepared you will be fine.

Would daresay that most biomeds actually prefer HSF over MCB, so despite its deficiencies with respect to organisation and teaching, people tend to enjoy it more than MCB, which has plenty of great teachers and is organised perfectly.

So long story short, no it's not that bad.

Personally, I don't know—I only listened to one of his lectures. Everyone who listened to him did seem to be a lot more chilled about it all and if I had my time over I probably would have just listened to him rather than rocked up.

Replying because I just wanted to jump behind what you said about the few changes, I agree 100%.

This is actually true, a lot of the Biomedicine students absolutely long for the moment they can start learning about anatomy, physiology and pharmacology; what I guess many believe are the most relevant disciplines to medicine. I on the other hand dreaded it out of fear of having to study anatomy, but as I'm approaching the end of the semester I'd say it wasn't as bad as I thought (still not my thing though). I preferred BIOM20001 to BIOM20002 overall, but BIOM20002 has had more moments where I've really enjoyed the content, which occurred far less often in BIOM20001 for me (balanced by the fact that BIOM20002 has a lot more negatives than BIOM20001). Pharmacology was alright, there were some very interesting lectures, but physiology is really my thing. It's just such a disappointment it's being squandered by its mode of delivery. :/ As a consequence, my eye is on the neuroscience major for next year.

You should make sure you head to the drop ins next week. I'm not really sure about third year phys, but I'm pretty sure there's quite a stark difference between how it's run in second year and third year. Plus, the phys major will offer you a lot of flexibility. :)

As far as my experience with HSF went, I was one of those unlucky few that really disliked the content. I absolutely loved pharm, but everything else bored me to tears (particularly anatomy). I still survived it, was just a struggle and a half not enjoying the content and having to contend with the way it's run.

And pls, as if MCB doesn't have lots of awesome stuff in it! :p

Neuroscience (Y)

This is probably a really stupid open-ended question, but where can a neuroscience major take you?

I used to be indifferent to neuro, until I tried going through these torturous pain lectures in FiB.
