Not BIOM30002, BIOM20002. I would never dare offend the supergod Helen Cain.

My mistake! Thought you'd temporarily lost your marbles

PS: do agree with you. BIOM20002 was probably the lowlight of Biomed. Some elements of Frontiers, as annoying as it may be, are actually really useful and you'll find some of it pay off for you next year :)

just a heads up to everyone, apparently lecturers and tutors actually can see the statistics of who & when downloads and looks at things off the LMS. this includes shit like readings etc. LOL so if you get asked if you did the work or not and you say yea but you didnt, they can find out.
i dont think it matter though because surely they know that people have different commitments and things all throughout the semester but yea if you get a 49 for a subject and then you ask for another mark and they might say "lol no because u never ever downloaded the readings"

I thought this was already known. I've had a few subjects where this information has been used for diagnostics.

is it possible to have something from the previous semester removed from your transcript? o.O eg. if you are eligible for fee remission (but I think that has nothing to do with the transcript anyway)

Anyone here doing MIIM20002? My entire week has been spent learning and memorising like a gazillion pathogens and their pathogenesis haha. x.x Hurry up Friday!

Yep, this is me right here. Except I only just started cramming yesterday because of anatomy and physiology. GI pathogens is the bane of my existence right now.

Anyone know whether there's any kind of 'scaling' in subjects or is your final mark purely based on your raw marks?
Just an example, I know the averages of previous years/semesters of the ANAT20006 MST's were much higher than they were this semester. Do they factor in the cohorts performance if the papers were different each semester and say 'it might have been a more difficult paper'?
Just curious

Thanks,

I'm not sure if it applies to all faculties, but it definitely happens in some instances at uni. I was talking to the old dean of the commerce faculty after class in summer school and when we asked him about scaling he told me that very often he would tell the lecturers "too many people failed give everyone 2 marks" or "too many people got h1s deduct 3 marks from everyone"  so yes scaling happens in a way but i dont think its that complex. it actually happened to me in finance 1 last year i thought my score was way too low and i went and inspected my exam with the lecturer there and he said that too many people got h1's so he deducted 2 marks off everyone or something like that.

I forgot how salty I was about this. Chiming in purely to confirm. (Still salty).

I'm so salty too.

How did you find out about this?

Well I actually put in a shittttload of effort into the subject, and I was quite dismayed with my original score. I heard from a friend of mine who went in to check that scores may have gotten scaled, so I decided to ask myself and voila (they confirmed all scores got scaled down).

A table will help. You'll be able to simplify similarities between the pathogens.
