In response to everybody, what you are talking about is values, and that obviously depends on the person, I know heaps of good kids from public schools, as well as heaps of good kids from private schools, in fact I would say almost half of my close friends are from private schools (or have gone to private schools) - I, in no way, think that these friends are superior to ones that went to public schools.
However, prejudices stand and obviously we tend to believe that kids who go to private schools end up being better people, not better students only, but better people as well, and this is not true! I know someone paying private school fees to do VCAL - like seriously...the Victorian Certificate of Attempted Learning

- they're paying to attempt to learn! LOL!
But that aside, I think that public schools/private schools both have the opportunity to help people, just that, as with everything else, in private schools you're spoon fed with everything you need making everything easy and readily available, but hey, you don't pay 20k for nothing =.=" but does that mean that there are no opportunities in public schools...NO! if you want to volunteer for charity, do so outside of school! if you want to do volunteer work, there are organisations out there, that i know of, that might interest you, it has nothing to do with the school
and personally i think that private schools obviously have to offer benefits for the money that you pay, otherwise no one would go there, whether or not these benefits are of use is a difference
and Rohitpi, I fully agree with you, they leech teachers from public schools as well, which is a huge issue, plus like my school should have at least 5-6 more 99+ students who have been siphoned off to other schools, if not more 99+ kids
