You can hand them in whenever iirc. I think most people hand them around the midsem break though

Hi guys,

I've tried cramming my timetable into 2 days this semester and Allocate has spit out a day where I have 8.5 hours of class in a row with absolutely no break (no recorded lectures and a few workshops/tutorials). Is a day like this feasible? I live really far from uni (2 - 2 and a half hours) so ideally I would not want an extra day...

Honestly, I don't think a day like this is feasible. If your lectures aren't recorded and you have so many back-to-back classes then it's going to make it very difficult to stay attentive during the whole lecture, and if you miss anything, well there's no way to watch them again. Secondly, if you have tutes and workshops and you have important information being delivered it'll be hard to keep up with it given how fatigued you would already be.

At most I block 5 hours of classes straight and I make sure that it's a lecture, lab and then a lecture. Usually if I'm too tired after the lab I can just watch the last lecture online and give myself a break. Even 4 hours straight is tiring enough. I don't think 8.5 is a good idea. I live around 1 and half to 2 hours away from uni myself. Last semester I had uni everyday and mostly 9-5 or 10-6 days. I found that I actually got more done, it's about using your breaks really effectively while you're at uni. Even then you would probably have 3 days a week at uni if you spread your timetable out and that sounds like a pretty sweet deal (well, from the perspective of someone who has always has 4-5 days a week).

What does everyone think about this winterfest business?

It would be alright if the lectures were recorded. Honestly, it's doable if you want it to be doable.

If you're not marked on the things done in those workshops/tutes, it hardly matters if you're a zombie. You can go home and work.

I live that far as well, i would probably make this sacrifice. For you though, its a very individualised trade-off between how intense of a day that is VERSES how much you'd dislike lumping in another day.

Unless its a special case you can rejig your timetable up to a week or two in i believe (but only the spots that are left-over).

The answer to that question depends on how busy you are as an individual?

I've jumped between managing 5 students to thinking 1 is too much. The answer is not as straightforward as you think, even in a general sense.

I got an email saying my computer access to Monash IT is restricted because apparently "I were not enrolled in any units in my course" When I go to wes all of my units show 'enrolled'

I'm confused here. I transferred to bachelor of engineering this semester if that helps.
