._. ...BUT IF I DON'T ASIAN-PASS MY ASIAN-TIGER-MOTHER WILL KILL ME.

That said, if I'm never heard of again after the 16th you will all know what happened.

(I leave all my earthly possessions to gossamer ._. )

I think I'm really lucky because my Mum is overseas and if she would be here, would absolutely kill me on the 16th. I'd never hear the end of it and I'd go deaf listening to her go on about my failure.

And whats even better about her being away is that all the curries wont be able to call up and be like 'how did your daughter go? Did she pass? Can she do Medicine or become a lawyer?' Because my dad wont answer them- he knows what their gossiping, nosy minds are like.

Last year my brother sat for the Melb High/Macrob test, and when results came up, people called our house going 'how did your son do?' Meaning did he get in or not. But my dad, knowing this, replied 'oh yeah, he did fine' -gave a really vague answer that gave away nothing LOL

Oh god, I absolutely despise that attitude!
Freaking make feel kids feel inadequate just because they don't want to do medicine or cannot get into it, just to inflate the egos of themselves. Sickening.
Sorry, I'm kinda sensitive to that kinda thing :(

But remember, if you don't do well - it's not your ATAR that defines you as a person, it's your personality that matters. Anyone would respect a kind, honest and caring person with an ATAR of 80 over a douche with an ATAR of 99,95. :D

The only person pressuring me to do med is my grandma, but she's in another country, so there's not much she can do. She's already got a daughter who is a doctor, two grandkids in med school and one who's a lawyer, what more could she want? She's just pushy because she was accepted into medicine way back when she was young, but she gave that up to elope with my grandpa when she was 20 and became a teacher. Scandalous.

As for my parents: my dad studied science and my mum did a degree in "development studies" which was a mix of arts, science and commerce, majoring in statistics. She had the marks for med but didn't want to do it. So neither of them can tell me not to do what they did, that would be hypocritical.

When you all talk about "medicine", are you talking about becoming a doctor or being a research scientist that discovers new types of medicines?

Yeah I dont really pay attention to what they say anyway. And its not like I want to do Med or Law, but its more the expectation of a curry to do something like that. But either way, its not like their kids do any better. Most curries are the biggest hypocritical shits ever.

But I realise its the curries who have kids that are younger than us- that havent done VCE that are nosy. Its coz after you have a kid do VCE, I guess you realise its not that big of a deal that you need to call up other parents to see how they went sort of thing. But before that parents see it as a massive thing that dictates your life- so they call up other parents to see how their kids went, in order to figure out how to tackle the idea of exams and year 12 for their own kids, or just simply to gloat about their own kids' lame achievements.

I can just see how it would go:
[insert sarcastic tone] Ooh, thats nice your kid got 99.95.[end sarcasm] Yeah my son got a High Distinction in his Grade 6 New South Wales Mathematics Competition. He is such a smart boy"

Fuck off, no one gives a shit.

What is it about medicine that makes it so popular? Does it pay well, or do you all find surgery a very interesting and exciting profession?
