Do you know anyone else from our school that got it?

Not that I know of, I'd be really surprised if Ryan didn't get it

It must be something to do with getting a 50. I got 97.85 which is lower than all of you, yet I still got an invite. I may still be overseas at the time, so I really want, and perhaps need to find out what this is all about incase I need to alter my arrangements.

Is premiers given to top 5 or top 3? If top 5, then maybe Tashi made it in :)

Hahaha that would actually be hilarious. I thought it was usually top 3 though, it's based on how many people do the subject.

Depends on the number of people doing the subject, I think there was only one for software development last year (from memory)

I just got the official invitation from the Governor and his wife. Still doesn't provide much detail, with the occasion being to 'celebrate Australia day.' The Dress code is lounge suit/ day dress if anyone was wondering. Doesn't answer why we have been invited though.

Yes I got this too. I think it's just a general reception, to be honest; nothing specific to do with students whatsoever. You'll notice underneath the dress information it says "Decorations/Medals may be worn", which would seem to indicate that there will be war veterans present. In light of all this I'd suggest it's just a generic reception and, needing some young people to counterbalance the elderly guests, they sought out high achieving students.

Although I still don't understand why we're "celebrating Australia Day" on the 19th of January...

Yeh, I just fund out that it's the top 100 students in Victoria who get an invite. But I'm not sure that is an accurate description, because the criteria is probably best students in certain subjects. Perhaps that is where the 50 scores come into play. I won't be in Australia at the time and as you mentioned, it is only a general reception, so highly doubt I'll change my plans now. You can send people on your behalf as well. I don't understand that either, why isn't this held on Australia day, or closer to the day?  ???
