Honestly though, this isn't the first time this issue has been brought up. There's a difference between a general chat thread for 2013 graduates on AN and what is essentially your personal diary/journal. If you want my serious opinion, I don't think many people really care about what trial exams you're doing or what SACs you have coming up. Plus, hearing about your life does get repetitive and boring.

Seriously though, if you want to start a conversation, at least make it on something non-academic related?

I really feel terrible now. I just want everyone knowing that this was not intentional of me whatsoever. Thanks for bringing it up, because I would have continued otherwise. I'm lucky to have people like you to help me along the way. :)

EDIT: 1000th post!!! What a timely co-incidence. :P

Don't feel bad, like I've said, nobody really cares, it's not like you've done anything wrong to anyone to feel bad about, just remember that if you want people to reply to your posts and keep the thread going, you have to involve them. Talk about things that are going on such as politics, the news, the cricket, the soccer, what people want to do at uni...etc.

If you want to talk about academics, SACs and practice exams, it's good to ask other people what they've been doing and what they've been up to. That way, you can actually discuss and everyone feels involved and more people will feel motivated to post here and keep discussions going.

The worst way to keep a thread (or even a real life discussion) going is to talk about things which people don't really have an involvement with (i.e. your grades).

Honestly, I was just waiting to see whether you would make a fifth consecutive post ;)
But seriously, I think it's great to establish an enthusiastic feel amongst the 2013 cohort, and next year there will be much more involvement/hysteria. And yeah, perhaps whilst things aren't as intense (we are in year 11 after all) rather than focusing on each SAC score you could strike up a more general discussion to keep the flow going.
In the spirit of checking in and such, I have spent my holidays revising over the content for history, summarising my summarised notes onto cue cards and starting some practice exam questions. Now for all the year 11 homework I have so diligently neglected.
Hope everyone else is having a productive but relaxing week!
Always here to help!

Yeah, one of my posts must have been deleted. :P Better late than never.

Anyway, thanks for all the lovely support and I'll make a greater effort to include everyone from now on. :)

Alright, so it took a while for the emotional toll to subside but after some deep reflection overnight (ie little sleep over the matter) I have a few thoughts which need to be shared:

1. I don't think I could ever express my regret enough. I have been blinded by my own worry that I could not even see what I was actually doing. :P

2. While I take the full blame for what has occurred, I'm going to need the class of 2013 to make a bit more of an effort if they want to keep the support group alive. I'm not saying you have to sit at your computer all day or that you actually have to timetable visiting this thread, but I cannot be left trying to resurrect this thread through bumps or having to talk about myself. If you see that no one has posted in a little while, just share something - anything you want to and feel comfortable sharing. If you want to talk about your marks, that's also fine. It is perfectly normal to feel proud or ashamed with your results, but bottling up your feelings is not the way to go about things, especially if you feel compelled to talk about it or that you think it will make you feel better. The idea of a support group is that we share the ups and downs of life and help each other to achieve our goals. If the cohort really wants this, everyone is going to have to put in at least a little bit.

3. Additionally, I've realised that I have not made much of an effort to really get to know the class of 2013 too well. I don't think knowing your usernames and subjects is really enough to form closer bonds. Again, I take full responsibility for that and I apologise. So, we're all going to play a little 'getting to know you' game. I hope you all have heard of the game 'Two truths and a lie'. If you haven't, it goes along the lines of this - you share two true statements about yourself and one lie and it is our job to guess which statement is the lie. After 3 people have guessed, you can share which statement was in fact the lie. The first person who correctly guesses the lie - if it is in fact guessed - gets the next turn (if no one guesses the lie, then the last person to guess can have the turn). I hope this is a productive and fun way of getting close with one-another. I'll start off:

- I have thrown up during a test.
- I used to have a mole on my bottom, which got removed.
- I can play the violin.

Good luck. :P

Haha - okey dokey!

Was the lie that you've "thrown up during a test", considering that this probably has never happened because you've worked so hard for it that you know everything anyway, so there's typically no need for you to vomit  ;)

I would have said that vomiting during a test would have been a bit too obscure to have actually occurred.
Also, are any other Year 11's thinking of doing UMEP or MUEP subjects next year? The applications are open until the 23rd of November (my Birthday :O), and you need a B+ average over all your subjects, and an A/A+ average in the subject you want to specialize in. I'm in the process of applying for UMEP - Mathematics at the moment, maybe some of you guys could do it as well.

You'd be doing four maths subjects! Gosh, you're keen. I guess if you're interested in maths it's worth a shot. Are you sure there isn't something else you want to study though? :P

Well I mean, Physics and Chemistry are okay (I'm doing the 1 & 2 versions of them this year), but they're nowhere near as good as the Mathematics subjects, even Further is kind of enjoyable at times. But yeah, I'm fairly sure there's nothing else I'd rather be doing. And it's going to make it easier for me to maximize my ATAR score, because there is a fair bit of overlap between all the subjects. And UMEP maths can go towards credit for getting an actual degree at the University of Melbourne, so you should consider doing a University enhancement subject.

Only two out of Methods, Further and Spesh can count towards your top 4 though, and uni maths not at all. So say that you got 45+ in Methods, Further and Spesh, only two of those would count towards your top 4 (as well as English and Japanese) and one would go into your bottom two along with UMEP maths.

So unless you're sure you're going to get a really good score for Japanese, I wouldn't recommend it.

But yeah, I really wish I'd done a UMEP subject, either chem or politics. Would have been wicked.

It's fine Chemderp, I already knew all of that, and I'm quite good at Japanese (By no means the best and I'm not trying to sound conceited here), but I know I'm about good enough to get a 40-42 raw score (I average about 90's over my S.A.C.s).
It is a bit unfair though, because I'm pretty sure you can do as many humanities subjects as you want, and the same restrictions don't apply.
Anyway, thanks for your concern. :)

With the Japanese scaling you should be fine as well. Just don't screw it up! (:

To be fair, the humanities subjects are very, very different from each other, much more so than the maths subjects (or English subjects). For example, there's minimal overlap between Legal Studies, Economics, Politics, Accounting, Business Management, etc.
