I have something similar - all students at my school do Unit 1 Religion and Society this year and then Unit 2 Ethics in Year 12. However, you can do Religion and Society/Texts and Traditions/Ethics at 3/4 level if there's enough interest (there usually isn't, but a Religion and Society class is running for the first time next year). Apparently it's full of accelerated students who like History. :P

We offer Religion and Society 3/4 to Year 11s at my school. We actually can't study it in year 12 I think. Quite odd.

I am looking forward to Ethics next year, but I think it will get ruined by the attitude of the class. :/

It's always an issue. Religion is taken as a massive joke usually.

Yeah, and my school has gone to fairly big lengths to make things interesting for us. For example, we got to watch The Simpsons for our outcome 2 SAC and then just answer some brief questions. :P

Texts and Traditions seems like a really interesting subject. I've only met about two people in real life who actually study it though.
I studied Text and Traditions 1/2 and it was quite interesting; it was more philosophical than I thought it would be. The history behind religion is actually quite fascinating, it's all the realistic content behind the stuff you hear at mass. I remember one lesson we discussed the tomb site that Jesus was buried in and how different interpretations led to different beliefs about who he was and why people worshiped him so much, which led to ancient scriptures which were left out of the bible and stuff like that. Interesting stuff
There are also moral areas of the subject, talking about euthanasia etc. which leads to rather interesting discussion and interpretation.

Thanks for this Yendall- it's more insight than I ever got from the careers office ( seriously, they had no idea about muep or texts)  Still deciding which one to do :)

That's okay! :)
I think Unit 3 and 4 of Texts is based around beliefs, values and ideas about existence and human experience and how that is interpreted through the bible and storytelling in ancient and modern societies. I'm not 100% sure how Units 3 and 4 operate, however i'm sure it would be quite interesting :)

I'm screwed for the Unit 2 exams. I just did a NEAP practice exam for Chemistry and got 70% (and that involved looking at notes at times). How are you guys balancing all your subjects at a time like this? I thought I was managing it well, but I guess this suggests otherwise. Oh well. :P

haven't really done much for Unit 2, got Chemistry tomorrow as well :/

I'm happy as long as I pass, I should do okay though. I'll just make sure that I revisit anything I don't understand during the holidays.

BTW, are BusMan exams really this long!! I found it worse for time than 12English haha! I spoke to a few people and I was one of the few who actually finished the damn thing!!

There's no balance at all for me. I still have SAC's for English, Methods and Physics on Thursday and Friday. So far I've neglected Physics because there's really no point any more and English because it's only language analysis. For methods I've been doing a tonne of questions and after today I have to go back to revising for my 3/4 exam which is on Monday. Then I have to study for my Unit 2 exams right after I get home in the afternoon from my exam as I have 4 exams on the same day. There's so much work to do at the moment so I better get back to studying.

I'm screwed for the Unit 2 exams.

Ditto. I worked hard for them throughout the year, so I thought it would suffice... But it wasn't. I ignored them too much during the beginning of the exam period.

And it sucks because after methods tomorrow (woo all 3/4s done!), I pretty much have to cram study for philosophy and chemistry which I have on Friday. At least I have the weekend before Japanese (dropping it, meh) and English.

But basically I was on the mindset of prioritising my 3/4s but only recently did I decide to apply for uni extension philosophy, hence all of a sudden my year 11 results matter as there are grade requirements for entrance. So far I meet them all, but I'm just worried that I might screw up one of the exams and BAM, there goes a fantastic opportunity :(

And it's not helping the methods exam shattered me today after hearing so many people talk about answers after the exam, agh! :(
Sorry for the rant lol

Don't worry guys, i'm screwed for unit 2 exams as well.

Though I feel I shouldn't be in the position to say that, as i'm not doing any 3/4's this year and all my subjects are easy, compared to everyone here at least. I guess it's just English that's my problem, Macbeth will be the death of me, and GUAIA.
