Hmm when i look at that prompt, it isn't as bad as i first thought (the beautiful one). Haven't covered much on that perspective of his poems :/
yeah I kinda shit myself when I first saw that prompt haha, but I ended up being able to manipulate it so half of my ideas were stuff I'd previously written about and half was new - which will probs be my strategy for the exam. hopefully the prompts we get aren't complete out of left field :/
Figured I'd post these prompts here for you guys to have a look at
The War Poems
i. “Dulce et Decorum est
Pro patria mori.”
Do Owen's poems convince us that it is noble to die for one’s country?
OR
ii. ‘Despite images of despair and destruction, Owen’s poetry celebrates comradeship.’
Discuss.
thank you heaps for these!

weird. 2012 was pretty easy but I don't really feel like I'd have that much to talk about. I'm not really sure if you can link things like 'compassion' to the language choices of owen expressing his pity for the soldiers through his brutal raw imagery in his poems. If I did 2013 I could have nailed both of them so easily.
yeah I think the 2012 were too simple. I dont think I could have actually written a full length essay for those. I'm hoping for 2013 level difficulty, or maybe a tiny bit harder, so it invites some interesting ideas without being impossible. Fingers crossed VCAA isn't too sadistic

edit: actually 2012 was probably really simple cos it was the first year of war poems being on the text list. chances are we'll get some harder stuff as we near the end of its time on the list
