my heart bleeds :'( why are you hurting me Mcfluerry? WHY? the novel is about the human condition, and how society disintegrates in the face of adversity when survival is not guaranteed (I actually only like the book because i really like Elinor and that is about it xD). Its more deep than OTW at any rate hahaha. HATERS! come at me! (please dont actually)

Don't even think about dissing OTW. Best film ever  :)

I have my context SAC on 'skin' in a couple of weeks...
Context is definitely my worst section! I always get stuck between wanting to write a creative and expository! I take forever to choose and formulate ideas because we have so much freedom with choice that I just end up wasting time :(
Anyone else have this problem? And do you normally stick to a certain writing style when doing context?

Choose a style before the SAC and stick with your decision, simba. It will take the decision away, at least. I never had a problem, because of my answer to your second question, I always wrote creatively.
Also, Twelve Angry Men is the best, hands down. It's not even a matter of subjectivity. You just can't possibly beat Twelve Angry Men.

There is a lot of depth to Year of Wonders. I'd agree that it demonstrates how social hierarchy collapses in a crisis, however, I do think it highlights how the best and worst of humanity are drawn out (rather show the disintegration of society)
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

I've chosen creative for mine on Thursday, and most definitely for the exam as well. This way, I can practice, practice and practice. I started off with a horrible piece, got improvements and as revisions keep going, you'll notice that instead of reading guides and study designs, using the improvements you're given, you can identify what you need to have/do in your piece of work. :)

At least that's how I've felt, and my English teacher is amazing :)

You shouldn't need to be taught, as such?

No one writes creative style responses. The only styles that are taught are expository and persuasive to a lesser extent.

I'd say that's consistent with most schools I've heard of tbh.

Yeah my teacher has never even gone over Creative essays, when I had her in year 11 she always encouraged expository writing. Persuasive has always been my favourite, I'm not creative and I hate just "discussing" the contexts (expository), I like to be able to persuade and challenge the readers perceptions. Ok, being serious, I hate English.

i found that getting a foundation in the expository style of writing led to better creative responses, for me at least. plus writing a creative piece is less 'concrete' and formulaic than a expository piece, which is why it's difficult to teach to a class. we never learnt it either last year at my school -.-
