Freelance web-designer :D
+ Get paid heaps for work that I enjoy doing
+ Got a good setup where I don't have to deal with the clients
- Per job basis, not sure what my hours are e.g
- Can get very stressful when working with particular clients that won't makeup their mind.
- Can get very time consuming.

I tutor one girl in Lit. :)
I worked at a dry cleaning store for 3 months. :)
At the end of this year I will probably try to get another job or start tutoring in earnest.

1st job: Muffin Break  -- It was actually really good. I had an awesome manager and workmates.
2nd job: HS (fruit shop) -- Everything was CRAP. I hated it. No one was nice, except a few of my workmates. I had ridiculous shift times. Lol, I remember my manager texted me a few times asking if I could work on my school days. Usually, after school shifts were 3:30 and I would finish school at 3:10. I mean, that gave me very little time to get ready, hence why I was always late. Oh and because we were always short on girls (only girls were allowed on registers) on the weekends, we had to work like 8+ hours with only one half an hour break. One time, I had to work for 12 WHOLE hours -- it was a nightmare.
Most customers are rude, some are nice. I think the rudeness was contagious, because I in turn started to become grumpy. One day a customer yelled at me and I just broke down in tears, it was then that I had an epiphany that I HAD to quit..... I did and it was the best decision I've ever made in my entire life.

12 hours is insane. But checkout chick is not that bad, you just have to repeat the same action over and over again. I get a lot of shitty customers at my work too. I remember once a customer waited for 8 mins for a meal and he cracked it, full on throwed a  can of 7 up on the floor and it exploded right next to my face (I was picking something up at the time). I thought it was a bomb for a second ahhaha.

This is awesome as. I would love to do something like this, once you have enough experince/money  you can even start your own company and hire ppl to do that work and become the CEO ahah.

The repetitiveness of the job made it dull.

checkout chick is not that bad
You're joking, right? It was BAD  <--see how I bolded that, and put it in capitals....
Anyways, I had to deal with so many rude people - it completely sucked. One time, a girl at my work made an honest mistake, she charged a customer 0.26 cents (no exaggerations, I still remember to this day because I tell everyone this story) for potatoes, however, he never purchased them. The girl wasn't trained to give refunds, so I had to do it for her. However, because it was protocol, I asked him if I could look at his bags to see if he actually had the potatoes and that made him tick. Whilst I was refunding everything the man kept berating me like it was my fault, he went on about how its never happened to him before and all this other BS......when he left the store, he threatened to make a facebook page about the store and funnily enough, he did.

That being said, not everyone was bad though. There were several nice customers.

I thought it was a bomb for a second ahhaha.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, LOL.
You should have sued the man for battery.

Footy umpiring is great pay tho, i think it's just netball ahhah. My friend who does footy empiring get paid like 40 bucks for an hour and half ~ 2 hours. But he gets like 1 game, 2 games a week as well.
I did footy umpiring for a few years...it is a very funny and enjoyable job for what its worth. I didn't mind being abused because I'd just pay 50s and send people off aha. But yeah the pay is awesome, you would get $40 for junior games, around $55 for under 18s and plus $100 for seniors. So I had mates that would do 2 junior games and a senior game all in a weekend, thrown in some travel money and they'd be making almost $200 for a weekend. Not bad! Tax free as well.

$8 a game?! The gender differences in sport are awful hey? My brother earns about $60 for umpiring local football, even more if he can get a game in a league further away!

I don't think this was so much a case of gender difference. I umpired netball when I was 13, so it seemed good money because I wasn't of legal working age yet. Some if my friends still do it now and because they have got the certificate for it now they get like 4 games at $40 a week and even more if they want to umpire week day comps.

I still work at Maccas. :(
But when I get into uni, I'll probably apply for a receptionist position since I have a certificate.

I worked at an independent hardware store for 18 months. And I know nothing about hardware. I felt sorry for essentially every single customer I was serving. :P Although, the staff and system there was awesome and they were super flexible with me (I mainly did two hour shifts). They were quite upset when I finished up prior to Year 12 (since I was no good at helping the customers I took care of most of the housekeeping stuff - something they really appreciated given that hardware stores can get extremely messy) and said that I could get my job back with just a phone call. To be honest, I wouldn't return but only because it was a hardware store - I wish I could take the team with me though!

After Year 12, I intend to do some tutoring but I'll probably do another job as well.

This is what I do, receptionist at a physio/osteo/myo clinic (although I don't have a certificate). Been there ~18 months, pretty good work. Mainly consists of payments, booking appointments, general admin and KPI recording The patients are all pretty friendly and it's a nice environment. Was pretty flexible with hours during year 12 as well. I definitely recommend it!

I also tutor a bit too.

Hmm. I think it'll be good practise too since I want to work in an office. By the way, how did you get into the job? I think I might quit Maccas just before Term 3 holidays and work somewhere else.
I might considering tutoring as well, if time and energy permits it.

Bro, I know those feels a lot, but it can be pretty difficult getting a new job that late in the year. I'd probably just change your availabilities to like 4pm-8pm on a Sunday or whatever if you still wanted a small bit of income but didn't want to work too much going into the hard part of the year. The great thing about Macca's though, is that after exams you can just pick up whatever shifts you want to, whereas you may not have the same freedom (or comfort via familiarity) at another job immediately after school.

Probably why I haven't quit yet. I haven't worked since like, the second week of uni, but I know that as soon as holidays hit I'll want 30 hours a week, and then I'll want to stop again as soon as uni starts.

Hmm. Now, you've got me thinking. Ah! I really hate Maccas. I don't know why we market to mentally ill people and other psychos.

But, in terms of the benefits of working at the job, I guess I've become a tougher person. I realise that you haven't worked at retail if you haven't been screamed at.
On the weekend, I had this girl yell at me for not giving her food after only 5 minutes. It wasn't even my fault. URGH! And the ridiculously high standards of Maccas is just so unrealistic. As if we can wash our hands every hour or freaking change the timers every fucking time we replace something. And it's not fast food because of service, it's "fast food" because it makes you fat quickly. GAH!!
