Thanks for the input guys. Me and my friends in class became aware of this, and we plan to tell the teacher once the results of the SAC are returned. It's more than likely that that group of people who cheated would have got insanely high scores compared to the rest of us, so it's pretty f*cking annoying. I put in so much effort for that SAC, and if people who didn't study manage to get higher than me, I'll be pissed. I'd imagine you'd all feel the same.
In Unit 3, I was rank 1 because all the SACs were done at the same time and there was no possibility of manipulating the system. Now, I'd be lucky to be in the top 10 thanks to this.
So, i guess it's only a problem if they have a higher rank than you because they will fuck up your SAC mark due to statistical moderation, assuming they do bad in the exam. If this is the case, I STRONGLY recommend telling the teacher because this will greatly affect your studyscore/ATAR.
This worries me greatly.
Anyway, here's a short story on what exactly happened.
It was for physics, specifically the electric power component of the course. The SAC itself was supposed to be a "summary of prac. reports", but in reality it was just a test.
Anyway, when discussing answers after the SAC with friends (as you do), I heard that group x in my class had received photos of the SAC before they did it. Note that we didn't do the SAC at the same time. I talked to a friend in another class, and he says that he saw someone (that was friends with group x) with their phone out and his SAC sheet on his lap. Putting two-and-two together, we realised that he had sent the picture of the SAC to his mates.
Not
that bad right? It's not like they can remember the entire SAC? It's not like they can bring a CAS with all the answers in it?
Wrong.
In this SAC, we were allowed to bring in "summary reports" of each individual prac. that we did. So they chucked all the answers on those sheets and guaranteed themselves high marks. When I was doing the SAC itself, I looked up at the half-way mark and saw group x with their pens down and making faces with eachother. It was a long and somewhat difficult SAC, no way they could have completed it that quickly.
TL; DR - people in my class received picture of SAC beforehand and brought answers in with them.
I don't actually know how to approach this. What do you guys suggest I say to the teacher?
