I swear our views on ATARs, scores and parents are so similar! I didn't tell my parents my ATAR or Study Scores either, nor do they know it from other people. The only people who I've told are my tutors (who my parents don’t communicate to) and a couple of close friends. The only things I told my parents were the courses I'm interested in and that my ATAR meets my course requirements, which they were fine with. Obviously they have more ideal courses in mind (they don’t like the Melbourne model much), but they accepted my wishes after I spoke to them about it.
Haha yes somebody else who's done the same thing as I have xD (I've only told my SS to my tutors and ATAR to a couple of friends)!
I just told them that my ATAR meets my course requirement(s) and was tossing up between a few which I had a chat about (since they too dislike the Melbourne model) and though I did get the silent treatment from Mum (which lasted for a whole week), it was settled pretty quickly because of scholarship offers (and two chocolate bouquets from Monash too LOL)
I deferred it because I didn't want to go to university yet (gap year).
I second bangali_lok's thoughts as well! Provided you've put in lots of thought into why you want to take a gap year (which I'm sure you have), then this coming year they'll realise that in the end you've made the right choice and just let you be. Sure your parents may seem controlling now but they'll loosen their grip on you over time especially when you head to uni next year since you're already admitted into your course already!
Pretty good I think- it's impossible to tell amongst poker faces and the natural subjectivity of interviews! Can't go into too much detail though
But it was actually really fun in my opinion- much preferable over the old-fashioned panel interviews.
Haha that's good as to hear!
I also like MMI's since they're straight to the point vs. old-fashioned panel interviews where people try to seem friendly and get you to relax when really "did you actually get your point across?" :|
And who from the Class of 2015 is coming to the meetup on the 16th?
