Hmm so does this warrant a HHD Discussion Thread 2014?

Will try to keep it questiony from now on, chillax Snorlax  ;)  :) :)
Haha yeah create one Maxine :)

Question (for the sake of it) - When eating high saturated fatty foods, glucose levels go up and so do insulin. Insulin stays too high and the body can no longer recognize insulin. Why is this so? Do the pancreas become so damaged that it can no longer create insulin? Why can't it?

2015-2018:| Bachelor of Science (Neuroscience) @ UoM
2019-X:| Doctor of Dental Surgery (discontinued)
2019 -2021:| Master of Physiotherapy

Currently: Physiotherapist working at a musculoskeletal clinic. Back pain, sore neck, headaches or any other pain limiting your study? Give me a PM (although please do see your personal health professional first!)

Any questions related to pathways towards studying dentistry or physiotherapy? Gimmi a PM!

My mate did HHD last year and he gave me his 2013 checkpoints book

A lot of the questions refer to 'outer and inner regional areas'. Do I need to do this stuff? I've got over the 2014 textbook and no 'outer/inner regional' stuff was in there.

Or does regional just refer to rural?

Cheers :)

I've kinda forgotton VCE biology in general, but I'll have a go! :)

One reason why this may be the case is because of "insulin resistance syndrome" ,a metabolic condition( probs, genetic or due to lifestyle reasons) .As you mentioned the pancreas cannot create insulin , thus increasing blood sugar levels :)

Nup! Some of the questions in the HHD checkpoints are weird and at many times useless :) But if you pick the right questions to do , they'll help you heaps in SACs!

Quoting from the SD : "variations in the health status of population groups in Australia, including males and females, higher
and lower socioeconomic status groups, rural and remote populations and Indigenous populations "

What do determinants of health actually tell us?

What do determinants of health actually tell us?
factors that can affect our health in either a positive or negative way?

Raises or lowers health status?

Why don't you look up the definition of determinants? That tells you exactly what you're asking about.

Smh? shaking my head?

Yeah as MM said why don't you just read the text book? Or ask your teacher? Or look at the glossary? You've been asking the same question for a couple of days now and it seems that nobody here can help you.

Why do we know them? Because it's apart of the course. Without determinants of health the 25% of the HHD course would be gone. The course would be boring with them. We do know what it is, they are just factors that raise or lower health status.

I find it extremely hard to interpret your questions, you should really ask you teacher about this one, I don't understand what you are trying to say.
