Going to post my questions here now because nobody helps me on my thread no more  :'( :'( :'(   haha

Haven't posted a question in a while. Need help -

So a biological determinant that acts as a risk factor of diabetes mellitus is body weight. Being overweight and obese means you have large amounts of fat. Apparently, fat puts strain on cells or insulin? It puts strain on cells responding to insulin? Yeah so can someone help me with the end.

Thanks

And I don't fully understand what it means by the 'justifications' of a health program that helps promote a NHPA????????

b]And I don't fully understand what it means by the 'justifications' of a health program that helps promote a
NHPA
You need to explain why a health program helps promote an NHPA.  E.g. The 'go for 2 and 5 program' is one that is supported by organisations that promote the consumption of two serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables each day, thus the 'go for 2 and 5 program' promotes cardiovascular health and reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

You told me to not respond to your questions, but no one was responding so thought i'd answer.

Thanks man,

Yeah I know the explain part of answering NHPA questions. Pretty sure there is a justification part as well. Going to ask teacher tomorrow.

Heys

So basically for the justification bit you just need to say why the program exists. Usually to address the factors contributing to the NHPA, and decrease the BoD and prevalence etc.

And I would have answered your questions if I knew the answer lol :3

For each NHPA make sure you know;

- Basic overview of it
- Why it was selected
- Costs, direct, indirect, intangible for indiv and community
- Determinants that act as risk factors (all four)
- Health promotion programs
- Justifications

He hasn't been here in a while because of sickness. Will ask him straight away when he comes back. But I'm pretty sure MadMaxine is right, it's just why the program exists :)

Can someone give me the structure for a full mark response when using the determinants of health to explain difference in health status of Australia, populations and groups?
THANKS.

Hey ☺

With questions like that you would state the determinant eg physical activity then in brackets put the category eg (behavioral) then go onto to discuss how this affects the group.
Also remember to discuss the difference and not just say “males have higher rates of CVD” say “males have a higher rate of CVD compared to women”. This sounds obvious but apparently lots of people don’t do this.  ☺
Do you have a specific question, because I realize this explanation probably isn’t the best. ☺

Thanks a lot.  :)

Yep :)

Yep :)

So do we just link determinants to how it causes variation in health status (life expectancy, morbidity, mortality, burden of disease), eg. smoking (behavioural) causes decreases life expectancy and an increase in mortality rates?
