It's basically a bowl of corn flakes everyday to tide me over until recess where I have something a bit more filling. Or the occasional bacon & eggs / scrambled eggs / toast

today I had a bowl of yoghurt and a banana.

Usually though, I eat 2 weetbix and milk with a slice of mango, or a toast with a piece of cheese and milk, or a bowl of oats, bowl of cornflakes with a few almonds, scrambled eggs and toast.

Make sure you are having low gi foods OP.
Think: Burgen breads (also high in protein too), all bran (I also add linseed fibre), some kinds of muesli. If you are ever having porridge, the "steel cut oats" are much more lower GI than "instant oats". Having full cream milk every now and then (e.g. as opposed to low fat) wouldn't hurt either. You can also buy soluble fibre (e.g. psyllium husk) and add that to cereals and stuff too.

This is a great page showing the GI of various foods e.g. breakfast cereals: http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsweek/Glycemic_index_and_glycemic_load_for_100_foods.htm

Usually a couple of soft boiled eggs and a piece of multigrain toast with avocado.

And some tea as well, usually Chai or English Breakfast.

Jesus there are some big eaters here  :o
Depends on whether its a running day or not for me, on days I run I have a nut bar thingy before heading off, and a smallish bowl of the coles brand muesli (lush), with low fat milk (full is too creamy for me after I had to live with my grandparents who only drank light milk). If I'm still hungry I might have an apple or banana.
On off days, I just eat the bowl of muesli.
Tbh, I don't really think a greasy breakfast is a good way to start your day (unless hungover and at 11am), purely because it makes me gassy/nauseous throughout the day. Also, you have to think about the poor people around you :P Plus I don't eat pork, which makes resisting the full english a breeze.
But at the end of the day, it's what gives you the energy to go through the day, starving at 10 am is never fun.

especially for those 8am lectures...... :'(
Hell yeah! Strawberry flavour <3. In my opinion, breakfast is never as satisfying as lunch or dinner yet the most important meal. Try weet bix, you'll get full in no time.

I'd second the low GI food, especially if you are always hungry in the morning. A few things that people might not realise are bad for you though are:
  • Juice - Often has as much sugar, if not more, than Cola
  • Yogurts - The tasty/deluxe ones can often have more sugar or fat than ice-cream. The one's that are unsweetened and plain are great though.
  • Cereals - This one is more obvious to people, fruit loops obviously aren't great for you. Even stuff like rice-bubbles or corn-flakes are pretty bad though. Wheetbix are actually alright in this regard.
  • Eggs - This is probably more because i'm a vegetarianish hippy but they are actually loaded with cholesterol which causes heart disease. You all already have the beginning stages of it, even from the first few decades of your life, cholesterol begins setting up residence in your blood vessels.

Of course, all these things have good components in them too. Juice does have a few vitamins (not as many as you'd expect though) but also other substances, whilst not vitamins, may be good for you in one way or another like anti-oxidants. Yogurt does have a fair bit of calcium which is especially important for women, most of the research has shown claims about the various bacteria and cultures in them might be more or less bogus though. Cereal is surprisingly loaded with vitamins (because they add them in, they basically grind up vitamin tablets if it helps you conceptualise it), so, if your diet is a bit low on thing like iron or zinc, they can really help with that. Don't eat eggs on their own so i cant say anything about them.

I usually have the traditional European breakfast, coffee, cigarettes, a few shots of vodka and a large dose of stress (kidding, does sound yummy though). I usually slam down a cup or tea or two and i'm out the door. I'd honestly rather sleep than eat, i know its bad for me (or maybe not, people tell me it is but idk if its true) but so are a lot of my habits. On the holidays i have more time to eat so i usually go for a few cups of tea and some cereal or fruit.

I've been eating two or three pieces of fruit for breakfast everyday for the last three months.

I used to believe breakfast was the most important meal of the day, and that you should eat a large and filling breakfast... but now I just eat when I'm hungry, and lunch is my main meal for the day.

If you're hungry in the mornings, high fat foods tend to be more filling than eating carbs.
Avocado, eggs, bacon... that sort of stuff.

i either have a smoothie in the mornings (always with a banana and a handful of frozen mixed berries, and then depending on what's in the fridge, ill add some passion fruit/a mango/peaches/half an avocado to it. If it's too thick, I'll throw in a bit of oat or soy milk but usually it's fine) and i top it off with some seeds/grains/nuts. or I'll juice a whole bunch of veggies (kale or spinach, celery, a carrot or two, knob of ginger, and maybe an orange/some lemon/beetroot/tomato/cucumber) with either a pear or an apple for a touch of sweetness. And ill have a handful of nuts or a banana with it.
if i wake up late and am having brunch, I'll still juice and also make a sandwich or salad or i'll have a bunch of vegetable sticks with some hummus or peanut/almond butter.

i always make sure i have a whole ton of fresh and raw fruits and veggies in the morning cause it makes me feel really energized and healthy. I find that I don't need high carb foods to stay full in the morning. + I don't ever have fried/greasy foods in the morning/generally try not to before dinner. I get healthy fats in the morning through nuts and avocados :3

I also take vitamins/supplements with my breakfast to make sure i'm not missing out on anything.

I just eat generally whatever there is, usually leftovers from last night's dinner.

I find myself getting bored of cereal, egg & bacon, etc after a while though. Breakfast is probably one of my favorite meals of the day.

Didn't want to make a new thread since it relates to breakfast but, I am more of an Up&Go person (the post I made earlier) however after reading all of these different types of breakfasts you guys have I just----- *starts drooling*. Anyway it seems like I have 8:30 classes this semester so I have to wake up quite early if I want to have a breakfast so my question is:
How long does it take you, on average, to make your breakfast? Especially healthy ones? Also do you guys recommend coffee/tea or juice/milk?

thanks!
