So if I post in the victorian threads, it doesn't count for the free essay marking?
If you post pointless things, it doesn't count for the free essay marking.

So like "Thanks", "hi" or what (to be more specific)?

Maybe replies with 30+ words. Or something substantial.

As a logical base rule: Post when you have something to say that adds to the conversation.  If you can give someone some useful tips, or make us laugh, or encourage someone, or tell us something interesting about yourself, or ask a question that'll really help you out - that's the purpose of the forum!  To help each other out and build friendships that help us have fun and get through the year :)

Personally, I've made some damn good friends and had some damn good times on this forum, and learnt sooooo much that's helped out my studies and thirst for learning amazingly.  I guess you get out what you put in, and spamming posts for the sake of earning essay marking and getting picky about numbers is really going to compromise what you can get out of this bunch of awesomely helpful people. :D

Class of 2017 i have really only 2 things to tell you
1. You're in Year 11 now, so knuckle down and study hard not long left now!
2. Its only Year 11 so enjoy it before the VCE year comes..

Lol i know confusing but this is what my teachers told me last year. I think what theyre trying to say is have some fun, but not too much fun, study but dont burn yourself out and remember your assessment marks (and some knowledge depending on subjects) dont count towards your VCE

Having said all that.. You should be giving it your all in your year 11 final exams in term 3 because if you study hard and you fail its a good indication of whether to keep that subject or not.
Excuse me for being blunt but thats the way i am  ;D
Good luck all and just remember own the VCE and dont let it own you!!

For those of us who've been back a week now, I hope you all have swung back in the rhythm of things.

For some reason or another it seems like term three is the toughest on us mentally, no matter what year level you're in. Term two everyone gets physically sick with the flu and colds but term three is where it starts hitting hard mentally for everybody. I want to remind the wonderful people that you all are to keep care of yourselves and others near you as well. Don't forget to treat yourselves, you deserve it and need it. If you are finding things a bit too hard it's okay to take a step back from everything for a bit. Find someone who you can just chat to, about anything, it could be anyone from family and friends to a teacher you can trust. It can even be a pet! Just someone who you can talk to to flesh things out loud, it'll hopefully help relieve some pressure that you feel like you're holding back to.

As a personal tip of mine, find something you can do to take your mind off things at times. For example I read, but many of my friends do a bunch of different stuff like gym, running, sports, writing, cooking, video games. Find a small activity that you can do to help get your mind of things such as school and everything else.

Please remember to take care of yourself and others, the end result of your studying, your SACs, the grades, don't mean much if you don't remember to care for yourself too.

I hope you smash the rest of the year and if you have any goals, I hope you reach them!

Remember to enjoy yourselves and take care. :)

Just dropping by. :) Happy to answer any questions about the Year 11/Year 12/uni transition if anybody has any. How are we all finding the year thus far? Anything you'd do differently? Improvements to be made for next year? What are your goals? :)

I'm actually fairly pleased with myself so far this year. I'm enjoying the majority of my subjects now and going relatively well in most of them.

There's one thing which I know I need to improve on this semester, my work ethic. Teachers and some friends think I have a crazy good work ethic but in reality my work ethic is nil. I know I now need to build up a good work ethic for the rest of the year and beyond. I'm proud of myself that I am starting to do so.

Can relate to this! The work ethic we seem to paint on the exterior is nowhere near the truth... Or so it seems :)

I know the feels.  People always think of me as hardworking while I think of myself as a lazy slob lol.  Tbh I think it's very common to have different inner picture to how we see other people seeing us, and that's true for everyone but the most hardened of narcissists - so while one's work ethic can probably always do with improvement haha (mine surely can), don't stress tooooo much.
