That stupid question 10.

I got everything correct in that question up until the last line where I got distracted and stupidly wrote down the wrong answer.  >:(

in regards to the year 11 prep thing:

have fun and enjoy it but do enough work to learn the fundamentals. As it has been stated above, the most important basic concepts of chem are taught in year 11, and I think doing all the tedious textbook questions really ingrained how to tackle the problems into my memory and made year 12 easier... eg. I don't think I'll ever forget how to find the mol of __ since I know so many ways to do it

oh and the basics show up on the exam so you don't wanna stuff that up

same goes for methods but I did jack in year 11 and 12 & it didn't go well so learn from that and study hahah

if you're having trouble with English seriously don't stress, the essays I wrote in year 11 are embarrassing compared to what I can do now. I didn't even work harder, I just read the texts rather than wing it and made sure I knew what was being asked of me. Also your writing ability improves as you get older with little work on your part trust me

sorry that was a bit general but yeah

I know I'm late to the drama of a few days ago, but I just want to say:

Honestly, if anyone is going through academic or non-academic shit right now, as I'm sure many of you are, don't hesitate to PM me out of the blue.  Sometimes we just need to vent to someone, y'know?  And it's important that you do.  I've talked through a number of personal issues with a number of you here, and I'm happy to do it again.  Your wellbeing is my first priority on AN.  And awesome to see you reaching out to each other.

Another place to go is 7 cups, a place I've volunteered before as a listener; you can anonymously chat with someone who is 'trained' to listen empathetically as you vent about basically anything.  We don't give advice or counselling - we're not psychologists or anything, which are ultimately your best resource - we just listen.

What you're dealing with is shit, but... you'll make it out the other end.  And we got your back at ATARNotes.  Believe me.

Ah - hopefully you recover soon bubs! Btw why do you feel like you're falling behind on holiday hw! You have more than half of your holidays left, surely you shouldn't be covered in that much hw :O (are you?) - Just breathe, eat (hehe eating is me stress outlet) and work through things logically :D

And also dose up on the painkillers  8)
Hope you feel better soon :) I'd offer words of wisdom about keeping up with work...but after I had my shoulder surgery done in the middle holidays last year I just set up a mattress and mound of pillows in the lounge room and watched Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music on repeat :P

If it helps I'm extremely behind on my uni work and we go back on Monday hahah

Don't despair about your holiday homework -- there is still time. Sometimes the best of us do it all on the Sunday night before school starts...

no pls try not to do this

Chocolate and pizza are the best stress-foods ever.

Also to the person who just had surgery whose post I can't find to quote atm: It's okayyyy. You've still got heaps of time and the rest of us are just doing it the weekend before school starts anyway so you're defs not behind. :D

also just a PSA for the Year 12s:

don't take this year for granted! It's an incredible experience and you'll never get to do it again, nor will you feel that cool again (trust me)

I love where I am now but sometimes I miss being in VCE and being at school in general. You're probably starting to feel the pressure now but do your best and love the work. It will be an unforgettable year if you let it, and the best is yet to come. I sound like a teacher but the last thing you want when it's over are regrets. Seriously evaluate where you're at now -- ask yourself if you're giving it your all or if you need to lift your game. It's also meant to be a lot of fun so don't lock yourself up in your room all the time if you've been doing that. You'll never have an experience like this with a group of people ever again.

Cherish the school experience while it lasts. I really hated it at the time but I look back on all the hard work fondly now and wish I had done more of it, or spread it out better amongst my subjects.

Take all the opportunities given to you -- participate in everything you can or have interest in. When you're done, you'll be proud of what you achieved in spite of all the pressure or if you don't do as well as you hoped.

You'll do a lot of growing up this year, and a lot will change. You'll remember the good and the bad times long after your results are released. You'll forget your SAC averages and maybe even your ATAR, but you will remember your personal growth and experiences for a long time.

Year 12 isn't everything (there are always other pathways etc) but it's definitely significant.

Make the most of it.
