In Module B, how do we show our 'personal response'?

Not at all - you won't get extra marks for a title. Only stipulate what visual image you chose if it asks for it otherwise if taking it metaphorically, refer to it once in the start, 1-2x in the middle and once at the end and hopefully it will be clear enough :) obviously don't overdo it but use it metaphorically to blend into your piece as if already there, these are examples I made if the stimulus was like one i did in a practice of a boat going through a storm:
-   HER STRUGGLE WAS A SOLITARY ONE – LIKE A LONE FISHERMAN FIGHTING THROUGH BRAWLING WAVES.
-   THE HORIZON WAS NO LONGER IN SIGHT.
-   RATHER, ALL SHE COULD SEE WAS THE RAGING STORM WAITING TO CONSUME HER WHOLE.
-   IN GRACE, SHE COULD FIND THE STRENGTH TO PUSH THROUGH THE WAVES.
-   THE STORM HAS PASSED (DIFFICULTIES) THE HORIZON IS NOW IN SIGHT.

Okie, thanks so much!

Hey, there is no need to use I think... I believe etc. in Mod B to show your personal respone IMO. I believe if you pick techniques/quotes and analyse them normally you are giving your own view! Also, if you use critics, a great way to show your personal response is how you handle them! Eg. if you agree with them, don't just say it, say critic _____ asserts that ___________. This is to a great extent accurate when considering (insert scene/quote) as (insert own explanation). Or even more fun is disagreeing! Eg. for citizen kane to enjoy myself, I'm going to try incorporate Jean Luis Borge's quote saying that the exploration of humanity's ego and vanity by Welles in "pointlessly banal" by saying something like: However, Borges' assessment, whilst accurate in terms of humanity's vanity as not an original concept, fails to take into account how Welles' way of conveying this through film techniques was highly original in his time and significant in representing the climax of Kane's moral and emotional decline.  Hope that helps :)

Hey guys,

Since I absolutely despise writing short stories I have a rather unconventional idea for an AoS creative and want to know whether you guys think it's reasonable or not.

Essentially, I want to do something along the lines of a hypothetical political speech set a couple of years into the future. The speaker shall be Peter Dutton and he will be rediscovering his sense of empathy in a fresh and meaningful way following the confronting and provocative sinking of an asylum seeker boat containing 500 people off the Western Australian coast.

Would i get tonked for this or would the markers find it legit?

Guys!! Please tell me they can not ask about technology or gender for metropolis/1984?!! And would a speech be specified like Deane or lessing as they were mentioned ... I really hope they specify keating or pearson

Unfortunately, they can! They can really hit any theme they like - And any speech could be specified. You do have to be ready for anything unfortunately! :)

Quote
AND with utopia for metropolis, I was going to talk about the scene of the eternal gardens with the plethora of women. It projects a utopic world filled with
excessive luxuries ... yet doesn't this show how women are dehumanised to satisfy mens desires ... thus does not reflect a utopic vision ... which is why the innocence and purity Maria possesses is emphasised to illustrate how her focus on "the mediator between the head and hands is the heart" is paramount that will lead towards an egalitarian society (that is utopic) ...

That sounds like a logical conclusion to me! Essentially there is no correct/incorrect with these sorts of things, use the scenes/evidence however you interpret them :)

Hey, have no idea specifically haha but typically for Paper 1 and Paper 2, aim for at least 6-7 pages for each essay and 5 for the creative. So for the essays, if we take 6, that means it should take 6-7 minutes to fill up one page. But don't worry about it too much! Just make sure you are constantly making sure what you are writing makes sense and answers the Q rather than focusing on speed :)

Will just say that this does depend hugely on handwriting size - I tended to write essays over more pages than my peers but my handwriting was also huge, so it was a little deceiving!!

Definitely a valid idea provided they don't specify a narrative (although you could probably frame it as this as well!) ;D you'd need to add little clues as to the speaker and the context of the speech for maximum effect!!

You want to be mixing and matching, to some extent. By pulling at parts of the rubric that are relevant at different times and PROVING the rubric with your texts. So you might talk about emotional discoveries being impacted by place, so I'm pulling two different parts of the rubric together, and then I'm going to explore it through my texts :)

No, absolutely legit! This is a great idea. I did something similar, except in the past. I wrote a speech at a conference that didn't actually happen, except in my creative! Great idea!

Hey Guys does anyone know when the last change for the rubric was for the modules?

Each module is different. Module C for Advanced (People and Landscapes) was only introduced in 2015, but the People and Politics part of that Module has stood for many years. They've been asking about W B Yeats in Module B for ages, but they've changed up the texts that were prescribed by swapping out some poems. So each module, and then even within that module, is different.

Hi Elyse,
I was just wondering with these sort of questions:
An individual’s discovery is questioned and challenged not only by the individual’s attitude but also by the attitude of others.
OR
‘An individual’s interaction with others and the world around them can impact on their experience of discovery.’
Do you think they can really ask this when in Robert Gray's poetry there really aren't any other characters in any of his poems. Meatworks mentions his wife once and it's not important at all and then in Diptych it is about his parents but him reflecting on them (so interacting I guess so it could work for that) but they obviously don't have an active role (ie. an attitude). Then in the rest of them I don't think there are any characters other than Gray.
Do you reckon they could actually ask this or would they realise before making the paper that it would not work? Thanks :)

It's hard to say. The people creating the questions for the paper have a really good understanding of all of the prescribed texts so I'm sure they would ensure they aren't automatically alienating a prescribed text. For that reason, I don't think it's super likely. That's not to say it's impossible, because I know sometimes students have come out of exams and said the question was particularly brutal in regards to their related text. I don't have official word on this, but if there was an oversight where the question was significantly harder to adapt to a particular prescribed text, they'd adjust the marking accordingly. Don't quote me on that because I seem to think I've heard that but I can't find anything on the net to confirm.
