Unfortunately I do not have enough time to complete all my work that I had to complete this whole holidays, hence I am in an unfavourable situation  :(
There's always enough time. Due tomorrow. Do tomorrow!

That's what everyone recommends but if you've got so much work to do and not enough time to complete it, then unfortunately, you'll need it and in my case, this is necessary. Unfortunately I do not have enough time to complete all my work that I had to complete this whole holidays, hence I am in an unfavourable situation  :(

however unfavourable a situation may be, your most productive and useful work will be done when you are refreshed and alert, not at 3am after your third Red Bull..... prioritise the work that has to be done first and work back from there!

An even more unfavourable situation would be burning out horribly due to lack of sleep.

I'm not saying that you've had time, because I don't know anything about your personal situation, but I don't think sleep should be compromised if at all possible.

Are there any programs for chrome used to block certain sites for say like an hour and then it gives you a 15 minute break and then it blocks you again for an hour and then it gives you another 15 minutes break?

Thanks

so the big 'holiday before trials' is closing to an end and I feel unaccomplished. I've barely gotten through the work I wanted to due to a family emergency. and the time I had left, well my concentration was OFF. I know that i'm a bit more better off than most other year 12's since my trials are week 5 and 6. yet I don't feel like i'm going to be ready in time for trials. I have lost hope in getting any band 6's. I know that my work ethic is currently inefficient but I honestly don't know what to do about it. I mean have days of inspiration where I buckle down and get my shit done but in most other situations like right now where i'm in front of the tv watching lion king for the 1000000th timewhere I could be doing somework. everyone else around me is getting a lot of work done and i'm so happy for them,, but I just cannot bring myself to do the same :( any one else on the same boat ... or been there and found a way out of it? please comment if you can :) cheers!
You need to make a timetable and start following it. And not be unrealistic - put in breaks.

Unplug your internet cable and everything if you have to. Also if home is a poor work environment then do your study elsewhere. There are heaps of strategies you need to implement if you want to take out the negativity.

I don't tend to follow timetables but rather do: 40 mins a day is dedicated to this, 40 minutes a day is dedicated to that, etc, etc

Oh, I didn't think of this idea. Silly me. Thanks, but the thing is if I need to go to ATARNOTES urgently and ask someone a question then how would I do that (if I have no internet)

The very moment I plug my internet cord/turn the wifi back on, I go into procrastination mode on ATARNOTES again. RIP me

Doing something every 40min is still a schedule if not a timetable. It's all about time management

I have used Self Control for Mac to achieve this, you can block selected sites (or everything) for a set period of time. You just need to have the will power to click the "Block" button  ;) I am sure something similar exists for Windows, do a Google!  ;D

There's a paid version of cold turkey unfortunately. I don't know whether or not the "I hour off the internet, 15 minutes to ask your questions on atarnotes will work though. That's what I could wish for so then I can work productively and ask urgent questions (whenever needed) at the same time

Speaking of workin productively, I'm currently on an iPad while reading physics notes at the moment ahahaha.

If you have questions to ask on AtarNotes, just skip them, and do the next ones. When you are taking a break, maybe come on AN, and ask for assistance for those questions you skipped.

That isn't quite productive (I would say it's more of a distraction), and in the end, you will barely learn or remember anything. If you really want to work productively and have a healthy growth mindset, you should start with having some sort of motivation to study.

Good luck  :)

Use stayfocusd!!  ;D It doesn't have scheduled breaks but you can pick sites to block completely for however long you want - you just have to be willing to put it back on  :P

In StayFocusd you can also schedule times (e..g have internet off between 4-6pm every day) or limit how long per day you're on a certain site (e.g. 1hr on FB).  That way you don't need the willpower to turn it on each time :P

It's basically:
- Leechblock for Firefox
- StayFocusd for Chrome
- Cold Turkey for Windows
- Self Control for Mac
Else I think there's a pomodoro technique tomato timer extension somewhere that blocks specified sites for 25 (or more) then unblocks for 5, and so on.  Worth a search :D

The first two have more useful options than the free versions of the second two, but the plus of the system level ones is that you can't just go open up another browser :P
